Axlaxa
A type of shotgun used by the Xalarin Council.
The Axlaxa fires pellets that are superheated. This makes them highly effective against organic targets, but the weapon is mostly ineffective against vehicles.
The Axlaxa has an incredibly high fire rate which would allow one to kill many targets in a short time. The heat can be extremely painful to many as their insides are rapidly cooked, sometimes even setting the target alight.
The weapon is also designed to be lightweight which allows the user to easily respond to the rapidly changing environment of short range combat.
The weapno has a magazine size of about 30, which can make it difficult to carry axlaxa ammunition in large quantities without a dedicated logistics unit. Furthermore, it also requires power to superheat its shots, but most of the heat is designed to come from the nearby environment (on colder alien worlds habitable to most species) from the contained, superheated environment under a Xalarin Atmospheric Shield.
This energy is obtained from a powerful capacitor within the magazine, and arcs electricity down the barrel as it fires similar to a railgun. It has a high resistance though, so the force generated through electromagnetism is small compared to the conventional gunpowder. This arcing uses a lot of power, but can heat up the shells to very high temperatures so they often end up at several hundred degrees after they leave the barrel. It can also produce a lot of recoil, so those using it are trained to use it. Some attempting to use the weapon when untrained sometimes end up with broken limbs. It is also considered one of the more brutal weapons of the XC, partly due to the sheer pain it causes in a target.
