'Vector' Reconnaissance Drone

A small space drone used commonly by the Hyperion Federation for reconnaissance duties. They are not atmospheric capable.
The Vector is very small and almost entirely unarmed. Its very weak armament comes in the form of 2 spinally mounted Photon Cannons. Despite this, and its massive energy signature for its size class, the drone is still an extremely effective recon tool due to its sheer speed and use of tachyon radars allowing it to constnalty hold a radar track on a target from across the star system - a range normally way too far to be lockable by conventional radars due to the speed of light. The HF often uses this to their advantage and keep several Vectors just outside the system to observe them, however, the enemy will know they are being watched due to the energy signature they emit. The Vector drones are often nicknamed the 'eyes of the fleet'.
Doctrine with these units can vary greatly however, including some variants designed for civilian use. For example, the 'Kaon' retrofit version of the Vector is designed to carry mining equipment and return mined material back to the HF. A similar task to the Positrino - Class Planck - Dismantlement Drone except it returns matter plasma rather than antimatter to the HF. There is also a variant designed for Cloaking, making itself almost entirely invisible to all sensors short of an extremely powerful cloaking inhibition field. These are known as Neutrino drones, and require Hypermatter to operate such extremely powerful equipment, often making it prohibitively expensive to deploy. Furthermore, almost all of its systems had to be sacrificed so the neutrino does away with the normal Vector's armament completely, is slower and its radar is less powerful meaning it needs to get closer to enemies to perform its recon role. Despite all this, Neutrinos have proved extremely capable especially when infiltrating sectors that are impossible for all other units to explore due to how closely guarded they are.
