Ethereal Plane
The Ethereal Plane is one of the known major dimensional realities in the Paranormal Multiverse Model. According to this model, every three-dimensional coordinate of the Material Plane is coterminous with three dimensions of the Ethereal Plane, and coincident with a specific time vector.
Unlike the Material Plane (and to some degree, the Astral Plane, the Ethereal has no substantive matter. It is made up of spiritual energy and energy fields.
Geography
The term "geography" is a very loose concept in the Ethereal realm. However, visitors there do experience different "places" or "realms" within it.
Those who arrive on the Ethereal Plane from the Material Plane enter onto a great broad plain. Some call this the Plains of Purgatory. Those who have recently died and whose body is no longer coterminous with their spirit are found here in great numbers. The plain is traversed by a large river which flows deeper into the Ethereal realm, towards a distant mountain. On the right beyond the Planes of Purgatory are the realms of creatures humans tend to call angels, and on the left are kingdoms of creatures called demons. Neutral spirits can be found on the plains and either side.

Localized Phenomena
Whereas the Material Plane is composed of mostly matter to give it shape and form, the Etherial Plane is composed primarily of energy — specifically experienced as energy fields, waveforms, and information by visitors to this realm. For example, what might feel like standing on solid ground is due to a balance of fields of gravitational, potential, kinetic and possibly other energies, which give the sensation of solidity.
