Valen Baylet

Pre-Revolution Life

Valen Baylet was a Wood Elf born to a working-class family in Afidorei. His father, Victor Baylet, was a union leader for the wood elves of Afidorei, managing to get the wood elves fair pay and stable working conditions. When Valen was 25 years old his father mysteriously disappeared, throwing union proceedings into disarray. His mother, Vay Baylet, was a detective working for the Afidorei guard. When Valen's father disappeared she worked the case to try to find out what actually happened to him. 2 days after starting the case her body was found burnt in an alley. After a year passed by Valen worked in the mana factory while also trying to crack the case of what happened to his father and mother. In his investigation to find out what happened to his parent, he ran into the new union leader, Aurora Borlas. Aurora was willing to help in the investigation to find out what happened to the last leader. The end of the investigation led to the owner of the mana factory, Taranth Bourgeois. Tharanth's connections made it almost impossible to incarcerate him for the murder of Victor and Vay Baylet. Valen felt that the best thing to do at this point would be to work for Taranth while also secretly gathering information on him. During the 20 years that Valen worked for the factory he got married to Aurora, and had a baby boy named Victor Baylet Jr. after his father. In the year 1999, Victor Baylet Jr. followed his father to the factory making his way to the veil core. Not being able to withstand the energy emitted by the core Victor Jr. died on the spot. On his shift, Valen's job has to inspect the core and there he found his son. Taking his son back to his home he and Aurora did their best to try and heal him but by the time Valen got there it was too late. For the rest of the day, the two held an impromptu funeral for their son, and Valen plotted to take revenge. The next day Valen left for the factory to start the Workers' Revolution , and Valen presumably died in the The Second Cascade with everyone else. Valen is hailed a hero by most but is blamed for the fall of the elven empire by high elves.

Post-Revolution Life

Somehow Valen managed to survive the Second Cascade at a cost. Due to being at the nexus point of the event Valen went through the veil and had it half folded upon himself, replacing part of his body with the form of a lesser horror. Valen now spends his days hiding in the alleyways of @New Draconia, avoiding detection lest some poor old woman spots him and dies on the spot.
