Ornel and Relny
Where is Relny?
Just north of Zyrine is a province that is actually under Zyrine's governance.
How is Relny classified?
Ornel did one thing to Theoma: they put a single pillar into the landscape with an inscription on it. That inscription reads as follows:
"My name is Ornel, and this is my land. Feel free to try to move or damage this pillar in any way you please, as you will never succeed. In no other way will I alter this land. I am not participating. I do not care about you. Do not pray to me. What happens here is your own fault."
Even though it contains one miracle and the land god's name is known, Relny is categorized as a Missing theome.
What kind of population and economy does Relny have?
Relny's economy and population are a relatively lawless extension of Zyrine's economy and population. There are no angelic Abstract here and Fate's protections are weaker, so the civilian government is restricted to means we would consider knowable in order to maintain order. Since Relny is much less densely settled than Zyrine, it has considerably more resource extraction going on. However, resource extraction is limited by sustainability concerns, and so the resources produced by Relny are predominantly agricultural or forestry. There are no everquarries here where the land god is not intruding.
As a Missing theome, Relny attracts people who are skeptical of Fate, and for example it has a substantial population of people whose livelihoods depend on Zyrine in some way, but who hate to live in Zyrine itself due to the heavy Fate-pressure that Zyrine exerts on people. However, there is no necromantic academy built up in Relny, and instead there is something highly unusual for a Missing theome: a geomantic academy.
Like Zyrine, Relny has access to coastlines and indeed it shares with Zyrine an excellent natural harbor. The port quarter extends between the two cities in a shared manner, being technically wholly within Relny, leading to it having a bad reputation among Zyrine's districts. Atop a beautiful cliff as it is, Zyrine cannot access the sea without either traversing through its Undertown, or going outside of Raul's protection to the port district of Relny.
What is Ornel like?
Missing. Most Missing theomes don't even know the name of their land god, but Relny knows that they live in Ornel. Attempts to damage or excavate out the pillar in the center of the theome have suggested that it is indeed indestructible and possibly infinitely tall, as no bottom has ever been dug up. Ornel might be the only Missing land god to have a priesthood, as his (notably sarcastic) priests put a lot of effort into trying to figure out what, exactly, Ornel isn't participating in. What is Theoma, that Ornel could do this and refuse to do anything else in it? They argue that Relny might represent the greatest act of divine revelation ever perpetrated on Theoma.
