A more total land barrier than a mountain, trackless Jenel is a forest designed to be maximally hostile to visitors. Jenel is why trade from Tekagol travels north over land or east over sea, but never west overland. Jenel is a Hostile Theome.
What kind of threats are in Jenel?
Many of the animals in Jenel are both ethereal and poisonous, and diseases fester in their flesh. Exploring here is greviously discouraged; disease is not a major threat in Theoma, and diseases brought from Jenel are one of the ways that contagions can spread in other settlements. Tekagoli luck mixes badly with Jenel, as minor illnesses are a great example of bad luck that doesn't destroy people.
What is Jombip like?
Jombip is a cruel land god who likes to let the tougher visitors get away intact to spread diseases and make his theome look lootable. For indeed, the twisting nasty local Fate encourages explorers to find the lost goods of those who explored before them!
