Ghavest and Velrilari
Where is Velrilari?
The last theome of normal seasons on the north-south trade corridor which crosses a critical pass from southern Kelkaith, Velrilari is the jewel of its region. It is west of Rhianasril and situated upon the banks of the river Lorniven where the river is just big enough to feature on maps. It is south of Serafustin and Lorilaine, a theome that people would hardly visit if it weren't for its essential trade road.
How is Velrilari classified?
Negotiable. The earthquakes that strike Velrilari claim few casualties, but are too common to enable construction. There are few who dwell in such a theome.
The fate pressure in Velrilari is very close to the amount in a missing theome, too. There's little fate protection for people here.
What kind of economy and population does Velrilari have?
If ever an economy was 100% tourist-oriented, Velrilari is it. There are no permanent settlements here, but there's an ever-rotating selection of caravans that have camped for unusually long periods to provide services for people who are drawn here by the beacon and/or by Ghavest's artful constructions.
What is Ghavest like?
A great monument-builder who is often experimenting with different constructions, Ghavest builds (and destroys) structures constantly across Velrilari. He adores people who visit to look at what he's made and gives many minor blessings to those who visit Velrilari. His structures are often empowered to grant blessings of one kind or another, and to create and distribute blessings seems to be something that Ghavest considers a minor artform itself.
When Ghavest tires of a structure, he destroys it via earthquake! For this reason, Velrilari is host to a surprising number of ruined buildings, as though some ancient civilization once built across it. No such civilization existed; the ruins are all Ghavest's work.
What is the Fate Beacon that Ghavest maintains over Velrilari?
As an artist who wants to be seen by as many people as possible, it should come as little surprise that Ghavest maintains a Visit Me Beacon over Velrilari. It's usually said that actually visiting a visit me beacon is bad luck, but in this case the pilgrimage is worth doing; Ghavest blesses people so readily that one need not be a geomancer to strengthen by visiting Velrilari.
Some people consider Velrilari a highly benevolent Mystic theome, and believe that there are mystic lessons to be learned from Ghavest's art, which are the true root of the blessings that are to be gained from him via these pilgrimages.
