Piper

Piper is a character in Map of the Woods. However, she died before the story began. Her title is unknown. She is Pecan’s equivalent.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Being a ghost, Piper is mostly incorporeal. She doesn’t appear to have feet or hands at times, thus appearing to levitate above the ground. An odd feature of Piper is that her footprints are easily visible, even if her feet or the rest of her body are not.
Prior to her death, Piper was of average physicality, perhaps a bit tall for her age.

As normal for equivalents, Piper has an object head. Her head is an acorn, which never sprouts into an actual tree.

Personal history

Piper Maris was the equivalent child of unknown parents, referred to only as the Marises, and is the equal of Pecan. Her birth name was Pipsqueak Maris. Picayune (Pecan's birth name) and Pipsqueak both mean something that is useless or trivial, which Nishiki and Akari Hamamura determined were unfitting names for children.
Piper was an easily angered but ultimately harmless child. Though very emotional at times, she got better at expressing herself overtime. Alongside Pecan, she enjoyed exploring the woods, making art, and looking for animals.

Piper died as a result of the The Equivalent Phenomena when her equal, Pecan, died of hypothermia. Piper was with Becquerel and the two were searching for Pecan at the time of their deaths.
As a ghost, Piper is aware of her own death and acts much more aggressive than she was in her normal life—despite phasing through most objects. She mainly sticks around Vincent Hurand, as he is the main trigger of Nueven’s ghosts. The two have a somewhat unhealthy relationship, mostly fueled by Vincent’s emotional instability and Piper’s anger. When they do get along, however, the two display strong magical capabilities and problem solving skills.

Likes & Dislikes

Piper enjoys using art supplies and holding small animals, especially reptiles and birds. She can't carry living things as a ghost, but she can hold art stuff and thus make art if she desires. When Piper makes art, it is often chaotic and incredibly expressive, in a way that's hard for her to put into words. While in the forest, she draws in the mud or on rocks, and sometimes on the back walls of buildings.

Contacts & Relations

Piper is Pecan's sister, as said earlier. Besides this, Piper has a few other connection throughout the story:

• Vincent is her only living 'friend'. 
• Nishiki Hamamura, Akari Hamamura, and Becquerel Matthews were Piper's caretakers in life. June Matthews was sort of like a distant aunt.
• It is suggested that a few ghosts were people that Piper knew in her lifetime, as she can be seen interacting with them here and there. They may not see eye-to-eye all the time
