Firelord Jandar'iethar

Firelord Jandar-iethar was the secondborn son of King Atlas'iethar, the last king of Old Cremmevia. After the death of his father and the beginning of the Elven Genocide, Jandar led a large group of refugees to the far north, discovering a hidden oasis of warmth and life between the great frozen peaks of Agder. Many more would join him in exile after the death of his elder brother Lucien, and he became a constant reminder to the continent that despite Overlord Arxik's posturing, even his reach was limited as he couldn't finish off the royal family like he had declared he would. Knowing that the hostile surroundings of Agder were the biggest line of defense between his people and the genocidal Overlord to the south, he dug in roots and abandoned the idea of returning home with armies to reclaim Cremmevia. Instead he founded the city of Ledes and formed an alliance with the Firebird Deja, a primordial Elemental of godlike power and influence. In return for the power to protect his people, the fighting men of Ledes would join Deja's defensive against the Frigid Legion. He abandoned the title of King and took on the moniker Firelord, a title he would wear to the end of his days.    And so, Deja blessed Jandar with a boon of her power: the Soulfire Galea, a mighty helmet forged from part of her heart. The two formed a bond beyond that of a warlock and their patron, instead becoming close friends and allies to the end. Under their guidance, the Ledian Empire was formed, and many great cities were built from magic and stone. One such city is still populated today: Vakt, the unconquerable fortress of Agder. The Ledian Empire became incredibly wealthy during its time as the ruling faction of the north, making allies out of its neighbors rather than creating enemies to their south.   Centuries passed with Jandar sitting in his golden hall, planning out grand architectural wonders and welcoming any elven refugees still displaced after the Elven Genocide. The Ledian Army stood strong against the Frigid Legion, with many more pyrokinetics learning from Jandar and many Firebird Sorcerers rising up from the general populace. The final battle eventually did come as Zima called upon her allies and unleashed an army larger than any in history upon the golden capitol of the north. As the Ledian Army held the flood back, Deja gave up one of her lives to form the Northern Ward and sealed the entire Frigid Legion within its walls. Jandar fled with her ashen egg to her secret sanctum, the Alabaster Temple, and hid her within a chamber of rebirth, where he too was placed in a seal of time, waiting to wake should he ever need to defend the temple itself. As his people once again dispersed amongst the southern kingdoms and the grand Ledian Empire fell into obscurity, the Firelord and his patron slept in secret.   Eventually, he was woken by Deja, though she was not as resplendent as before. Rather than a glorious phoenix, she took the form of a weakened woman, her skin formed of ash and cinders rather than roiling flame. Thanks to the Court of the Unseen's meddling, the Northern Ward was weakening and her power was draining from her body. She sent Jandar to retrieve the last of his line, a young pyrokinetic named Elorin whom had recently joined an adventuring party known as The Chain. Once she was reunited with someone born with her power innately, rather than having it granted to them like Jandar, she would be invigorated enough to balance the scales and strengthen the Northern Ward once more. And so, Firelord Jandar sought out The Chain, sending them to gather the key to the temple and slaughter some of the Frigid Legion's top generals before they worked together to free Deja herself. As the party descended the steps of the temple, Jandar stayed behind and allowed his phoenix spark to flare up, empowering him to hold back the full force of the Frigid Legion until they could succeed. As he fell in battle, the last thing he witnessed was the glorious firebird soaring out of the temple entrance, melting away the icy magic of her ancient enemy. His legacy, his helmet, and the title of Firelord were left to his only living descendant, Elorin of The Chain.
