There are songs and stories of noble-spirited heroes who protect the sanctity of nature from the encroachment of corrupt civilization. Rangers are not those heroes. Rather, they are skilled scouts who use their knowledge of nature for their own benefit.

- If the animals die in battle, that is not the rangers’ concern as long as they fulfill their role in the fight. The Valish call such rangers cruel; the rangers say they are just being practical.
