Origin

once elves roamed the world, they innovated, constructed many grand works of architecture, and wrote great literary epics. they thrived on the continent that was given to them until the humans came along, and they lost everything. In their desperation to keep from extinction, they meddled in magics that were beyond them, and the seas drowned their homeland. In the end they were forced to flee into the unknown.  

Current state

ever since the elves have been banished from the continent, magic has slowly been retreating away from midworld, retreating to upworld, and the underworld, regardless of where its going, once humanity was a race proud to present large numbers of powerful mages, now the art of magic is practiced by just a few handfuls of mages, and none of them as strong as they once could have been, and none ever having been as strong as the elves ever were. still, life goes on, humanity a moss, covering the ruins of a civilization long lost to history.
