These majestic creatures are the four-legged avian beasts of the forests, they are well-known and considered sacred in many cultures.
They are rare, but their appearance is said to bring luck, although only by the nobility, as farmers fear for their livestock.
Appearance
They have the hind legs and body of a wolf, and the front body and legs as wells as the tail of a raptor, their size is something to be marveled at, they can grow to the size of a war horse, and their wings are impressively huge.
The males can be easily identified by their impressive mane-like plumage, on their neck and head, where the females have more modest appearances.
Life
Griffins live in pairs, as they mate for life, when together they are very affectionate with each other, they can be seen grooming each other, and sleeping as a hurled up ball of feathers and wings.
They only lay one egg at a time, and raising a chick takes five years, so they are very protective of their young, and care for it deeply, and attentively.
Habitat
Griffins prefer the wild and distant forests, they fear humans, and their bows and spears, they are smart enough to recognize them, and realize the danger, as even tho they are generally viewed positively by mortals, they are still hunted for their impressive feathers and talons.
