Adventurers Guild

Those Who Fight

In this world of danger and monsters, there has always been a demand for those who would protect the world from the dark, whether that be in the form of defeating a monster, protecting a trade caravan, or fighting demons. Over time, those who fight, have banded together to make it easier to find work, this is done through the many adventurers guilds that are found across the world.

Club House

Each city, and many towns, will have a guild hall, where the members of the guild can come to receive contracts and share information. The deal is simple, if you get a contract from the guild, the guild gets a piece of the reward. You can choose to get contacts on your own, but this is much more difficult than just walking into a guildhall, and asking the taskmaster there.   This is because most people, when they want a job done quickly, will send bounties, or contracts, to the guild, who will then distribute it to nearby guild halls, so there is a good chance someone will get the contract. Contracts are usually only sent to one taskmaster, in order to avoid competition over contracts between members.

Members

Anyone can receive contracts from the guild, but members pay a smaller cut to the guild, but they have to pay an annual sum for their membership fees, this is generally a good deal if you are an active member.

Ranks

For those who join the guild, there is still a path laid out before them, in which they will have to prove themselves. This works differently for those who apply separately than those who apply as a group.
Guild Ranks Description
Fledgling All individuals start as fledgelings, they pay the biggest contract fees, and they are only given the more common contracts, the ones that higher members might not want to do.
Journeyman All individuals start as fledgelings, they pay the biggest contract fees, and they are only given the more common contracts, the ones that higher members might not want to do.
Master Fighter When a member has sufficiently proven themselves to the guild, they will be judged by at least three other masters, and if they prove themselves among the most skillful, they will be promoted to Master Fighter. At this rank a member will get first pick of contracts, and they will only pay a low percentage in contract fees.

Adventurers Bands

It is also possible to join the guild in a group, in which case you get other types of contracts, specifically, those that require a larger amount of adventurers to do. These bands are often hired to do escort jobs or clear out groups of monsters.   These bands don't use the same ranks that individuals do, instead, they are named either a guild band or a master band. This is because for groups, individual skill is less important, and if a group of mediocre adventurers group up, they can still do most contracts. However, if such a band proves themselves to be particularly skillful, they are allowed to market themselves as a master band.   However cool it is to be in an adventurers band, sometimes they do break up, whether that be for philosophical differences, wanting to do different things, or maybe they just have a falling out. The guild offers all experienced members of registered Adventuring bands the opportunity to join the guild individually at the rank of journeymen, so they don't have to start from scratch.

Band Name

All beast-slaying teams need a good team name, and there have been many such guild groups that have achieved international levels of fame for their impressive monster-slaying deeds. Often, however, such bands will experience growing pains, and once they become well known, there are always those who want to hire them for less savory jobs.

The Black Hand

Black Hand

The black hand, while technically not a guild member, as they are considered too big a mercenary group, do often take contracts from the adventurers guild, and because of their special status, they get good prices, and they are allowed to do master level contracts, even without a membership.

Taskmaster

The taskmaster is the one who sits in the guild hall, this individual is often a retired adventurer, or other kind of warrior, who has decided to spend their retirement serving the guild. There is only one taskmaster per guild hall, and their job there is the most important.

Guild Staff

Each guide hall also has a bar, and an equipment store, where adventurers can drink their sorrows away, as well as stock up on weapons and armor, or anything else they might need on the job. These are all guild services, and members get a special price of course. Working for the guild generally provides a more stable salary than working for a regular merchant.

Providers

When it comes to weapons and armor, quality is of the essence, so the guild will only procure these goods from the armorers, and smithing guilds, who supply the guild with all they need.

Jobs

There are different kinds of work that are covered by the adventurers guild, the most mundane of which is to escord traders. But the guild will take any fighting contracts, from beast-slaying jobs, to bounty hunting, mercenary work, and hunting rogue mages. These all fall under the term, adventurous, and are therefore the guild's bread and butter.

Specialization

Usually, any individual member, or group, will specialize in one or two types of work, such as bounty hunting, or monster slaying, although in times on contract scarcity, they might choose to widen their horizons, in the hopes of maintaining a steady income.
