Southdale Society of Magic
Within the City of Southdale in the Dalarn Lowlands , the Southdale Society of Magic can be found. Typically a more closed-off orgnisation, the Society is a safe-haven for those wishing to practice and perfect the art of magic. Located just outside the City's Western Walls, the Society is centered across a range of buildings and grounds, and has classrooms, lecture halls and practical areas for all manor of magical research and learning. With a range of dormetaries and living spaces, many wizards, mages and practitioners can be found there.
Southdale is more accepting of magic-users than most places in Arden, but that does not mean it keeps strict rules over the use of magic, and this is reflected in the Society's teachings. With a range of differing subjects and teachers, researchers and lecturers, the school has seen many students since it first opened in 732 AF.
Many of the wizards that pass through the school go on to serve Noble Houses across Arden, being a dedicated Court Wizard to provide advice and assistance. This has led to the Society having a high-standing amongst Noble Houses, and donations (as well as potential Noble students) are quite common. The Society is also responsible for developing magic for military purposes, and some students go on to serve in Arden's military as war-casters.
Illegal Practices
Not all magic is welcome in the Society. Necromancy is srictly forbidden, matching the law of the Kingdom. Certain Enchantments are also frowned upon, as well as dabbling in extra-planar activities.
