Lady Marcia of Warrick Character in The World of the Centurions | World Anvil

Lady Marcia of Warrick (Mar-SEE-uh)

The daughter of Sir Gerard and Lady Evelyn and the younger sister of Portia.   Six Word Description: Smart, Beautiful, Charming, And Knows It

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Good condition, she is reasonably fit for her age and size.

Facial Features

Beautiful complexion and perfect features, Centurions don't wear make-up but she genuinely doesn't need any.

Apparel & Accessories

She takes good care of her clothing and makes sure that it looks good. She has learned to sew and has added a little bit of decorative embroidery to her clothing so that is is not as plain as is typical of most Centurion clothing. She adds embroidery to the clothing of others (even servants) and views this as a gift of service to them so her parents allow the embroidery on her own clothing to slide so long as it is not excessive. She makes her own clothing and makes sure that it fits her form well while still being tasteful.

Specialized Equipment

Marcia has not started her handmaiden training yet so she has only a dagger for her specialized equipment. After she chooses to become an artisan (a Natural Philosopher) she is given a work apron (to wear while conducting experiments), notebooks, quills, and ink. She is working with Dr. Sheraton and is experimenting with lenses.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Marcia has grown up in Castle Warrick and has never faced any serious challenge or trauma. Centurions believe in living simple lives so her lifestyle has not been "luxurious" by the standards of most European nobles but it has been comfortable and safe and certainly better than the standards enjoyed by the majority of people living in central Europe.   She is the opposite of her older sister Portia in many ways and delights in showing her up. She is beautiful, charming, and very capable in different social settings.

Education

Marcia is only 12 but takes her studies seriously. She wants to be one of the Great Ladies of Europe and believes that such ladies are well educated. She especially studies history, philosophy, and foreign languages.

Accomplishments & Achievements

She is an accomplished seamstress and a decent rider.

Mental Trauma

No serious traumas but she is a bit obsessed with beating her sister.

Intellectual Characteristics

She is intellectually strong across the board. She is an ENTJ (The Commander) and can be a bit logic driven and calculating when dealing with other people. She is patient and thoughtful when working with anyone other than her sister who brings out the worst in her.

Morality & Philosophy

Morally upright but can be mean spirited when dealing with her sister who she feels does not properly appreciate her position as the first born.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

She loves to show up her sister Portia. She is very competitive with her and feels like she gets too much attention for someone who is not beautiful in charming. She believes in the Centurion ideals but envisions herself as a protector in more of the political sphere than a military one. She dreams of being a great Lady in Europe helping to form alliances, spread Centurion ideals among the nobility, model generous giving (all while being seen by others as being a Great Lady). Much of her focus is centered on her sister who she sees as standing in her way to becoming a Great Lady (her sister Portia is the first born and stands to be the next in line to be Countess of Warrick and will probably marry a higher ranking noble for this reason). Portia is also her only real competition for her parents' attention.   Mature for her age in some ways, she is still a child in other ways and is deeply fascinated by stories of unicorns and pegasi, dragons and maidens in distress. Secretly she longs to be in a fantasy story instead of living on the frontier facing constant attack from the Hungarians.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

She is socially savvy and is very much a Jack of All Trades. She is good at everything and has no real weaknesses (she is not the equal of her sister in combat but she is no slouch either).

Likes & Dislikes

Strongly dislikes her sister (whom she considers to be a social and emotional disaster) and really loves attention.

Virtues & Personality perks

When she is NOT trying to make her sister look bad she is actually quite gracious and charming to everyone else (as she imagines a Great Lady should be). She is very generous.

Vices & Personality flaws

Can be mean spirited and impulsive when dealing with her sister, she knows how she ought to treat her sister but has trouble doing it. She can be a little vain at times.

Personality Quirks

She plays with her hair when nervous. When she feels like Portia is getting too much attention from others she uses her flirty hair flip to perfection (it shows off her amazing hair and gets her the attention she wants).

Hygiene

Excellent, she always looks and smells fabulous. She emphasizes this by frequently making negative comments about Portia's body odor (even though Portia does enough with her hygiene that she doesn't have body odor problems) and her stringy hair (which looks unwashed even when it is washed).
