New Hope Settlement in The World of Tabled | World Anvil

New Hope

Resting on the open Lucien Plains, this growing town basks in the light of the ominous rings hovering above the landscape. It's size has increased due to refugees and those seeking their fortunes in the valley. While the town awaits the fated day, business goes about at a steady pace and without fear.

Demographics

Originally humans and half-elves, the town has grown to encompass a wide variety of species, cultures, and religions. While growing as a trade town, it has skilled workers and adventurers working around the clock. While no one in the town is inherently wealthy, those who ply a craft or trade are often seen with more in pocket than those who seek only residence.

Government

The town has a council governed by trade guilds and the populace. The guilds are voted in by majority vote and the populace representative is Fin Jakobsen. Town changing decisions are made by the council and laws are upheld by the militia. Taxes are collected during trade agreements and a small portion is channeled back into the Lamoran government.

Defences

The original earthen walls have been replaced by a stone inner circle, fields intermittent, a secondary ring of walls housing the outer town, and three earthen walls to further block the elements and offensive forces. The town guard is currently capped at a hefty 103 for the current populace and have had training by chief staff within the Lamoran army. A spell caster division is currently in the process of being trained by members of the Collegium. A canal cuts through the town from the Eastern side, directly accessing the river system, the lake, and further out the ocean. It is defended by two crews from the Lamoran Navy until such a time as a regiment is posted to it permanently.

Infrastructure

The town includes walls, sewers, roads, furnaces, windmills, farms, bridges, canals, mines, lumberyards, storefronts, and taverns/inns.
