Dunefolk of Novus's Forsaken Dunes

Not all who wander the Forsaken Dunes are lost, some are right at home.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Slightly taller than most humanoids from Kestril. The average Dunefolk stands at around 188 cm with the tallest being a flame touched that was recorded at 208cm. The skin tone and physical appearance of dunefolk are determined by their ethnicity and the main tribe that they are from. There are five tribes of dunefolk that make their home within and around the edge of the Forsaken Dunes.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dunefolk reproduce at a similar timeline to humans. With their children reaching full adulthood at the age of 22, their average life comes to an end at around the age of 130. Though some of the oldest dunefolk reach almost 200.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dunefolk grow at a rate similar to half-elves with males reaching peak form at the age of 24 and females reaching peak form at the age of 21. Though different Tribes undergo rights of passage and adulthood at different ages most dunefolk are recognised as adults by 21.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Although each tribe has different customs and culinary styles all Dune Folk share a few meals in common that stem from the Dune Havens they call their home.   Holding water as a valuable resource only drunk at special occasions or when the tribe stops at an oasis. the tribes instead consume a strange fermented drink they call Ulcus Sanguinus they create from the siphoned blood of their Dune Havens.   Many of the tribes consume prepared Dune Haven meat. This helps to maintain a healthy Dune Haven by removing any growths or areas of the Dune Haven that is building up large stores of the latent magical energy it grazes on.   Otherwise most tribes fill out their diet by hunting the beasts and magical creatures that roam the wastes as well as maintaining small farms on the backs of their Dune Havens.
