Necrotech

The Defiled of Greywood have created an entirely new form bio-magi-tech known as Necrotech. By incubating, growing, and activating living muscle tissues, the Defiled can draw off and store the bio-electric energy produced. This energy of living flesh is referred to as the Spark of Life (or just 'Spark') and can be used to power mechanical work...and the Defiled themselves.
The flesh that powers their society is grown in vats containing a mass of twitching tissue, some sort of bubbling, caustic green liquid, and capacitors connected to the flesh that draw off the Spark. These vats, known as Spark Generators can be as small as scroll tube to as large as a small building. Black, braided cables carry this purple-black Spark from building to building in Defiled settlements, powering lights, machines, and even weaponry. Batteries that contain a small amount of Spark can be much smaller for portable devices, or even pronged for injecting directly into a Defiled's body for sustenance.
Objects created entirely out of necrotech, and that have built in Spark generators, can run for a century without needing 'refueling' and even self-repair slowly over time.
A subset of Necrotech, known as Fleshcrafting, is detailed in another article. This is the art of fashioning, healing, and shaping Defiled flesh to alter appearance, alter physical traits (such as adding muscle mass to increase Strength), and even replacing or adding limbs.
