Zarthan
The Distant
Zarthan has always been a remote planet, it is because of this that they developed warp drive technology independently without foreign influence, one of the very few species to do so, as most of them developed it when they came in contact with more advanced species.
This is also the reason that they had formed their very own culture and customs around as a spacefaring civilization before coming into contact with other lifeforms, and for a long time, the only interactions they did have, were with adventurers who were exploring one of the galaxies gaps in knowledge, the Gap of Zarthan.
They became a species of legend, completely obscure to the outside world.
Until warp drive technology improved to such an extent, that they were able to break their bubble. However, this took over a thousand years to happen.
Warp People
In the modern day, Zarthan produces the most advanced warp drives in the galaxy, and this has been true for a very long time, but in the olden days before the Republic, this simply meant a slight edge over others, and they were still too slow to really form a large empire.
Now, the gap in technology has grown bigger than ever before, and they still keep making improvements regularly.
Divided Society
Their historical lack of travel capacity is also the reason why their colonies on other planets are so different from those on their home world, they, even in the beginning, were seperated from their home planet by many years of travel, and even today, it takes a lot of time to travel between planets, and these trips are only for true need, as it is impossible to just take a vacation to the next planet over, which is something not uncommon in large parts of the galaxy.
Planet
Their planet itself is a rather large rocky planet, orbiting a rather small star, a red dwarf. Most red dwarfs emit a lot of radiation, making life very difficult, but Zarthan's sun is very stable. Even though it is a red dwarf, the color it emits isnt very red, its about as white as all other stars, however, it does make for shorter average years for them.
This combined with their lack of seasons, means that they never had a culture of recording their years.
