Space Craft
Space Craft is an umbrella term for anything that is built for outer space, this includes all spaceships but also space stations.
Space Stations
Space stations are defined as stationary living spaces in space. There are many types of space stations, from research facilities to commercial or even private space stations, however, the most well known are the Warp Stations.
Warp Stations are all located in the center of warp lanes, They are large facilities where spaceships can refuel and resupply, as well as sell and buy certain types of cargo, depending on the station. They are also known for their recreational and entertainment facilities.
The way they are managed differs per nation. In some, they are all government-owned, like in the empire, and in others, private organizations run them.
There are even some in the wild regions of space, as well as in space owned by criminal organizations, which are known as places where hitmen hide out and illicit contracts are issued, and stolen goods are fenced.
Spaceships
There are many different types of spaceships with different purposes and functions, ranging from commercial to private or military.
Spaceship | Designation | Type | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Shuttle | SH | Any | Shuttles are generally small craft, not capable of warp travel, they are used by much larger craft, which often can't land on planets, to travel between the ship and the planet's surface. They can be small, for people only, but others are designed to transport cargo. |
Short Ranged Fighter | SRF | Military | Small fighters, often manned by one or two people, or even by droids, designed for short ranged fighting, and are not capable of warp travel. They are usually deployed from space stations or larger battle cruisers. |
Interplanetary Shuttle | IS | Private or Military | These are small craft specifically designed to transport five people or less from planet to planet, and they are the cheapest and most available type of private transportation between planets |
Schooner | SC | Private or Political | Schooners are personnel transport vehicles, and are usually not armed. They are designed for private use or for transporting government officials in safe areas, often escorted by fighters. They can accommodate between 5 and 50 people. |
Friget | FR | Any | Frigets are medium-sized craft used for a variety of purposes, most often military, in which case they will be equipped with weapons. These crafts are designed to be independent and are warp capable. They can house from 20 to 100 people, depending on the exact size. |
Cargo Hauler | CH/MCH | Commercial or Military | Cargo Haulers are designed to transport goods, and are most commonly used by shipping companies. There are also military cargo haulers, which will be equipped with weapons. Those crafts are very popular among pirates. |
Cruiser | CR/MCR | Private, Commercial, government, or Military | Cruisers are larger craft capable of transporting large amounts of people or goods depending on how they are designed, they can also be made for military purposes, in which case they are able to transport small amounts of SRFs They can generally transport between 100 and 1000 people. |
Space Bus | SB | Commercial | Space busses are the public transport of space. It is the cheapest way to travel between worlds, and there are many of these buses ranging from cheap and shabby to expensive and luxurious. They can usually transport over 1000 people. |
Mobile Space Station | MSS/MSSM | Commercial, Government, or Military | Mobile space stations are capable of transporting over 1000 numbers of personnel and large amounts of goods, or SRFs, if it is made for military purposes, and they can even allow larger craft to dock, the largest of them even being able to accommodate whole cruisers within them. |
Naming
The way spaceships are named is in the following way. First, the name of the company, then the designation, followed by a number, and a code name. The militaries of different nations have their own way of designating spaceships based on exact function and purpose, but this is the galactic standard way of categorizing them.

Features
According to intergalactic safety procedures, there are certain features that all spacecraft must have, some nations don't adhere to these laws, especially not the criminal ones, but most of them do.
There are also other utility features that most spacecraft have, but not necessarily, such as warp drives.
Radiation Shield
In space, particularly interstellar space, there is a lot of radiation, and without shielding, people can get a lot of cancer, which is why this is standard issue on all spacecraft.
Artificial Gravity
The prolonged lack of gravity has a large amount of negative effects on organisms that evolved on gravitational objects, which is why all spacecraft, especially those designed for long-term habitation, are equipped with artificial gravity.
Most space stations use centrifical forces, made by rotating platforms, to simulate gravity.
Smaller spacecraft use perpetual acceleration to create the feeling of gravity, and then use perpetual deceleration to do the same, just in the other way, This means that they are constantly expending fuel and switching once a day between accelerating and decelerating, switching the direction of gravity on board.
Being in warp automatically creates artificial gravity downwards.
In lawless regions, people often continue using a craft, even after the artificial gravity has failed, in most nations, this is a crime.
Deceleration Protection
Organic organisms can not survive being decelerated in a short amount of time, which is why they are stored in deceleration chambers, which use cryogenic technology to protect their bodies.
This is not required for entering and leaving warp, only for slowing down in the galaxy itself. However, you should make sure that when you exit warp, you have the same speed as when you entered it, or you will need the deceleration chambers.
Decelerating quickly without using a chamber will result in a swift death, and doing this is considered suicide.
Air Safety
Oxygenation Chambers are used because most spacecraft recycle air, just adding oxygen and removing carbon dioxide to it, in order to make it usable again.
Air Scanners are added before the aygination chamber, they scan all particles that are in the air, in order to detect any impurities and potential threats, there are more of these devices throughout the space crafts air vents, in order to be able to detect where potential contaminents might be coming from.
Air Filters are required by law, applied just after the oxygenation chamber. This is to make sure that all air that enters the ventilation system is completely clean and safe, even if there is a leak or containment somewhere.
