Kyskedium 16
The Element
Kyskedium is the final naturally occurring Magicronic Element.
Kyskedium occurs in its native form as a heavy gas. It is very rare, though. It can be found in trace amounts in most atmospheres.
The rarity of natural Kyskedium is approximately equal to that of gold or titanium.
Pure Kyskedium is extremely flammable to an explosive degree, producing a deep purple flame, and producing Kysox.
Kysox (Ky₂O)
Scientific Name: Kyskedic Oxide
Bond Type: Covalent
Appearance: Purple liquid.
Kyskedium is a non-flammable liquid with a boiling temperature of 280 degrees Celsius. In its gaseous state, it becomes unstable and breaks down, releasing Kyskedium and Oxygen. This breaking down isn't instant, and can take a long time, the hotter it is, the faster it happens.
Kysox is siliphilic, meaning it likes to huddle up next to silicon, it will also seep into rocks. Liquid kysox is quite sticky and viscous, and doesn't dissolve in anything, and it will always stay together.
This means it appears in pockets, generally in rocks, until it gets too hot, at which point it separates and explodes. Explosions might become perpetual if the resulting Kysox doesn't get a chance to escape. If the Kysox deposit is large, this can cause minor earthquakes.
It they happen on the surface, the Kysox can escape, and the explosion will not repeat.
If the Kysox meets pure silicon, there is a chance for it to bond with silicon instead of exploding when reaching high temperatures, leaving oxygen behind, this will only happen in the perfect conditions, and even then, it isn't guaranteed, which is why this process is very difficult to do artificially.
Kyskedium Salt (NaKy)
Scientific Name: Sodium Monokyskedium
Bond Type: Ionic
This forms naturally in the atmosphere because Kyskedium is a reactive gas.
This is found naturally in rock formations and mixed with regular salt, it reacts with silicon, leaving the sodium behind and forming Kyskedic quartz with sodium impurities.
When consumed, it will cause hallucinations and sweating, but in trace amounts, this can barely be noticed. However, in large doses, it can be dangerous.
Kyskedic Quartz (KySi)
Scientific Name: Kyskedium Silicate
Bond Type: Covalent
Appearance: translucent deep purple crystal.
Kyskedic quartz is very unreactive and stable, its coins are generally small, and very intricate. They are commonly fashioned into coins by implanting the crystal into a silver disc, however, the bigger crystals are lept as they are, and used on their own.
These coins are of very great value and are used as a galactic currency, often just referred to as quartz.
Its value comes from its incredible rarity, and stable value. Most natural Kyskedic quarts has already been harvested, and synthesizing it is very difficult, which is a big part of the reason it has become a popular currency for bulk trade deals.
One quartz coin is approximately worth ten kilos of gold, but doesn't weigh nearly as much. Large crystals are worth more than that, their exact value is determined by their quality and weight.
There are synthetic Kysketic quartz crystals, but they are only worth about ten percent as much as the natural ones.
Kyskedic quartz is also a decent storage medium for magical energy.
Kyskedic Carbonate (CKy₄)
Scientific Name: Carbon Tetrakyskedium
Bond Type: Covalent
Appearance: Black solid.
Kyskedic carbonate forms when carbon reacts with Kyskedic Oxide at high temperatures.
Reaction: 2C + 2Ky₂O = CKy₂ + CO₂
Kyskedic Carbonate is very stable and doesn't burn easily; it does react with nitrogen, or rather, volatile nitrogen bonds such as ammonia, but still, it will only react at high temperatures.
Kyskedic Carbonate is a controlled resource because it is the primary ingredient for Kyskedic Nitro Carbonate.
KineC (NC₂Ky₈)
Scientific Name: Kyskedic Nitro Carbonate
Bond Type: Covalent
Appearance: Deep purple solid.
The synthesis of Kyskedic nitro carbonate is highly prohibited, because this is considered a hard drug. It causes hallucinations, pain relief, and the release of dopamine. It is highly addictive.
Ingredients: Kyskedic Carbonate, Ammonia
Boil ammonia, and add the Kyskedic carbonate while stirring, it will react violently, so add a little a a time, it is recommended to add it in powder form. This reaction releases hydrogen at high temperatures, so it must be done in an oxygen-free environment or it will explode.
Reaction: 2Cky₄ + NH₄ = NC₂Ky₈ + 2H₂
The result will be purple rock, grind it into a powder, and it is ready for use. It can be smoked, ingested, insufflated, and injected into the bloodstream. It dissolves in water, which is how to inject it, or ingest it.
