Kukai
Magical Storage
Kukai are ancient relics. Some are still created, but the knowledge is rare and closely guarded. They emit light, permanently trap magical energy, and are nearly indestructible.
They exist in six shapes. Their shapes signify the path of magic it resonates with, this is because the magical paths all have a favorite shape. These shapes are all a type of platonic solid.
0. Tetrahedron
Sides: 4
Color: Grey
The tetrahedra has no path alignment, they can be created and accessed by any of the paths, they are quite common, and are rarely used to store more sensitive information.
However, they are useful for sharing information between orders, which is what they are often used for.
They are special not only in the way that they can be opened by any single magical path, but also in that they are the only type of Kukai that can have its contents edited, or even removed entirely.
1. Cube
Sides: 6
Color: Red
Cubes are aligned to Liberation, they are quite common, but most of them are hidden deep within Rayth temples, and guarded zealously.
2. Octohedron
Sides: 8
Color: Blue
Octohedra are aligned to Dedication, they are uncommon, and many of them have been lost over time, this is because there are many organizations that have aligned themselves to dedication over the years, and most of them are no longer with us, their kukai are still in their hiding places though.
Finding one is a big thing for a mage of dedication, because it may just come accompanied with the revalation of ancient secrets.
3. Dodecahedron
Sides: 12
Color: Yellow
Dodecahedra are aligned to Serenity, they are uncommon and carefully kept by the orders of Serenity. However, the currently only order of that path is small, and they have little influence in the wider galaxy, so they have been forced to barter and beg other orders to give or sell them those kukai that are accounted for.
4. Icosohedron
Sides: 20
Color: White
These are rare kukai, their alignment is unknown, it is believe that they can be accessed by those who have achieved true power or balance in magic, but none have ever managed to actually open one. The Rayth seem to really want these, for whatever vile purpose, so the other orders have generally resolved to hide them from the Rayth.
5. Sphere
Sides: ∞
Color: Ultra-Violet
These are the rarest of all kukai, only a handful have ever been found, and their purpose and origin is even more debated than that of the icosohedra.

Use
Kukai are used to store information, which can be in the form of data, usable by a computer, in the form of a computer program, or code, holo-message data, or anything else.
They can store nearly limitless amounts of information, which is why they can be used to store vast libraries of information or data, as well as very large computer programs or code libraries.
They can only be accessed by the magical path they were designed for, with the exception of universal kukai, in the shape of a tetrahedron.
When filled, a kukai will glow in the color of their path, if they are empty, they will not have any kind of glow.
The data inside Kukai is in the form of solidified magical energy, which can be read with certain computer programs.
Once filled, a kukai becomes completely unchangeable. It is impossible to change or remove information that is stored inside a kukai, and they are very hard to destroy.
Destruction
The most popular way of getting rid of kukai is throwing them into stars.
Creation
There are still some mages that know how to create kukai, but making them is a hard process, and very expensive, so empty kukai are a rarity, and they go for very high prices.
This is because nearly all the materials used for kukai are either rare, or require magical refinement, this is both a difficult and time consuming process, the exact details of which are a closely guarded secret.
This is why filling kukai is not a small thing, orders try to store information about their history, practices and culture onto kukai, so future generations may learn from their skills.
They are also used as the cores of highly advanced androids, which makes these androids especially capable, but also the target of scavengers.
