Personal history

Dandelo, the enigmatic leader of The 72 Gaelics, emerged from a background steeped in the rich tapestry of Syom’skit-Ngthefl, a city-state whose fate became intricately intertwined with the harrowing conflict against the formidable Mecha. Born into a society governed by magic and tradition, Dandelo's early life mirrored that of many gnomes in Syom’skit-Ngthefl, where arcane arts and scholarly pursuits were highly esteemed.   In his youth, Dandelo exhibited an exceptional aptitude for both combat and magic. His prowess caught the attention of the city-state's magical elite, who were desperately seeking a solution to the impending doom at the hands of Mecha. The ominous specter of defeat loomed over Syom’skit-Ngthefl, with the city-state on the brink of succumbing to the overwhelming might of its adversary. It was in this dire hour that the idea of the 72 Gaelics was conceived.   Dandelo, along with the most elite warriors of the city, was chosen for a perilous experiment that would alter the course of their lives forever. The decision to bind their souls to constructs, an act of desperation, was presented as a last-ditch effort to turn the tide of the conflict. The magical elite, driven by desperation and a desire to save their city, undertook a ritual that irrevocably connected the warriors' souls to formidable war machines.   As the ritual unfolded, the air was charged with both anticipation and dread. The consequences, however, were far more severe than anyone had foreseen. A third of the elite unit faced obliteration as the soul-binding process went awry. The sacrifices made in the name of survival cast a somber shadow over the city-state, as the The 72 Gaelics  transformed from living warriors to ethereal entities fused with the very constructs of war.   Despite the high cost, the remaining 46 warriors pressed on, embodying a resilience that would become their defining characteristic. Forging a connection with their war machines, they became an unstoppable force that stood against Mecha. The conflict unfolded with intensity, and the fate of Syom’skit-Ngthefl hung in the balance.   As the war reached its climax, only 17 of the 46 warriors survived to witness the stalemate conclusion. Their return to the city was met not with the hero's welcome they anticipated, but with a cold reality that shattered their expectations. No parade or celebration awaited them, and when the unit sought to return to their original bodies, the devastating truth was revealed. The magical elite, burdened with guilt, confessed that the soul-binding ritual was irreversible, and the fallen warriors were lost forever.   The revelation sent shockwaves through the 72 Gaelics. One among them, driven to madness by the revelation and the irreparable loss, wreaked havoc upon the royal palace before meeting its own destruction. Dandelo, now the de facto leader of the surviving 16, grappled with the weight of the truth. Barely controlling his rage, he confronted the city's leaders, warning them that the Gaelics would no longer be the protectors they once were. The decision to abandon the city was both an act of defiance and a proclamation of the impending reckoning.   The remaining 16 Gaelics, haunted by the betrayal and the loss of their comrades, embarked on mostly separate journeys. Dandelo, and a few others returned to the once enemy city Mecha and found a Home there amongst their once enemy.
