Garul Zarid, The Despot of War

"The Lord of Blood only knows rage, destruction and carnage. There is little that will sate his hunger for brutality..."

Garul Zarid the Lord of Blood, the Seventh Chain of Yarenil

Garul Zarid, the Lord of Blood, also known as the Ultimate Betrayer, is a warmongering god whose fabled ebony blade, Balinax, the Blade of Nights, bathed in in the blood of countless celestials and demons during the War of Unification. Garul is an old god, one of the original Ten’t Divine, who previously possessed the title as the god of Courage and Bravery, the Pillar of Orange light. He was a righteous and just leader who had given hope to the millions of followers that believed in his cause. He was an effective tactician, warrior and general that had initially led the fight against Urthugax's forces in the Era of Chaos. In ferocity, Garul found no equal; his methods of war were brutal and savage. He became unhinged when angered and his actions would be deemed atrocities among his peers. There is a mystery of how he had changed, how the once brave knight of vermillion light, lost his mind.
It is thought to be that Urthugax had swayed the God of war from his post, leaving the the Tent Divine to serve his cause against the Goddess of Light, Jubelia and the rest of the Tent Divine. Under the influence of the Chains of Yarenil, Garul felt free to feed on his primal urges, combat is what made Garul feel alive. This urge corrupted and changed Garul into a dark and foul beast. His sword of a brilliant gold hue, had jaded and cracked, becoming jagged and rough, losing its color and becoming a deep saturated black and red. He was no longer Zarid the Brave, He had become Garul Zarid, the Despot of War. The goddess of courage, Aralia, twin sister of Grysta and Zarid's Second in Command, chose to take up the mantle in his stead.

Berserkers, druids and barbarians of the old religion pray to the Garul for strength, reciting his name as "The Old Pillar". Despite having been bound to the war-torn Beast-Lands of Krateron, he still retains a healthy following for those who develop the thirst. Seven Clans dot the landscape of Eyre. Lycanthropy is thought to have originated from this myth, as the followers of the old religion were thought to transform when the red moon is full, and Garul’s legion shall devour all of Eyre.

The Seven Clans of the Fycetic Tribunal

Garul Zarid is thought to be the progenitor of the original clan of Werewolves. This myth has spread all throughout Delphine as more beings with the ability to turn into beasts were discovered. It is said that as Garul Zarid was taken to the beastlands of Krateron, he had brought with him his legions and armies of kin that had served him in the Era of Chaos. Beings that were known to have Lycanblood were known as part of the seven clans of nomadic warriors called the Fycetic Tribunal. The clans would be categorized by the types of beasts they could manifest when the Red moon, Fyceter would be full. The beasts would labeled by their clan ideals that would be given to them.
