Nimms

Nimms are alchemical creatures that can be created by Mages using complicated Magic. They are most commonly made to resemble an animal of some kind, but are identifiable by their glowing eyes as well as their human-like intelligence. They can speak, and can also learn or read and write if taught. 

The creation of a Nimm requires a physical item that is shaped like the nimm’s desired appearance which is then imbued with strong and complex magic. Only a well trained and knowledgeable Mage would be able to make one effectively.

Because they are made of magic, Nimms are effectively immortal unless the magic that created them is undone or wears away over many centuries, in which case the Nimm would slowly lose function. The weakening of their magic can be renewed and repaired by a Mage so that they will stay in tip top shape.

Nimms are often made by Mages to work as assistants and assist in their daily tasks. Some businesses also employ Nimms and may either commission a Mage to make a Nimm for them or may hire a preexisting Nimm to work for them. The latter is less expensive and much more common.

Appearance & Behavior

A Nimm can be made in any form that the creator wants, however animals are the most common as they are easy to make and human shaped Nimms are seen as creepy. The appearance of the Nimm is influenced by the material and construction of the item used to create them.

The behavior and personality of the Nimm is more unique and affected by the environment that they live in, much like a child. Oftentimes though, the younger Nimm’s are more flexible and easily persuaded, meanwhile the older Nimms tend to be more stubborn with strong personalities.

Some Mages put great effort into how they want their Nimm to look and make prettily patterned statutes to be made into a beautiful Nimm, on the other hand, others simply make them out of whatever is around without much thought of what the Nimm will look like.
