Harajasic

“Harajasic is the embodiment of everything that is wrong with the Pilic.” -Kasi Orlov, Novori Political Analyst

Written by WEASEL OF ROME

Republic of Harajasic

Structure

The government of Harajasic is in complete disarray, having been hastily formed before declaring independence from Oyapilic. The de facto power is held by warlords who lead local militias in defiance of the national army.

Culture

Since the death of the King and his heir in 891, the Harajasic people have been drifting, culturally speaking. As such, a lot of Harajasic people lack the strong ethnic pride of other Pilic states, which has allowed for a rise in ethnic militias and warlords to gain inordinate amounts of power in certain regions. Many Harajasic people grow up believing they only have two options, farmer or soldier, which has taken a toll on the collective psyche of the populace.

History

• 318 – The Kingdom of Milic declares a ceasefire with Harajasic and Wosternak, solidifying its position as its own sovereign state for the Milic people.   • 750–795 – Economic depression affects the entire region, raising ethnic tensions to an all-time high as different ethnic groups are blamed for the hardship. To the present day, these tensions have not dissipated. The event is known as the Depression of 750.   • 891 – The Battle of Belamir marks the end of what the Sergradic refer to as “The First Milic War” as Milic and Harajasic forces surrender to Sergrade. King Baast of Harajasic and his sole heir are killed in the fighting.   • 891 – The Treaty of Jarasevic
  • o The Princedom of Sergrade annexes Harajasic.
  • o The Princedom of Sergrade annexes North Milic.
  • o Milic and Wosternak are ordered to merge into a single nation by 901 with Wosternak as steward.
• 1014 – Riots in Harajasic are violently put down by the Sergradic government.   • 1019-1021 – A deadly plague erupts across the land, killing hundreds of thousands.   • 1024 – Reports of state-sponsored ethnic cleansings emerge from the lands of former Milic, Harajasic, and Rowic, targeting multiple ethnic groups. The Sergradic government denies involvement. Transpovania and Polsawa demand rights to investigate, but are denied.   • 1254 – Harajasic declares independence from Oyapilic. The OPA is overrun.   • 1263 – Harajasic and Wosternak forces begin border skirmishes over disputed regions.   • 1264 – Sergradic nationalists within Harajasic begin an open rebellion, demanding secession of their lands to the state of Sergrade. The Sergradic government supports the rebellion with arms and funds, but does not declare war on Harajasic.

Foreign Relations

Harajasic’s government has always been on uneasy terms with its neighbors, now especially because local warlords are threatening the borders. The official government has border disputes with Sergrade and Wosternak.

Agriculture & Industry

The Harajasic economy is the weakest in the region. It remains almost entirely agrarian.

Trade & Transport

Harajasic is seen as a dangerous place to trade due to the overwhelming presence of highwaymen and dubious local militias.
