Summary

It is said the creature was enormous, ten-thousand men marched against it. One returned. The Dragon's skull was dragged across the lands it's flesh sluffed of till only purest bones remain. This was made into the throne that the first Khan would one day claim from the corrupted creatures that claimed the then Steppe as their own.

Historical Basis

The death did happen and the skull was claimed the rest belongs to the mist.

Spread

The tale is known across the world, it especially popular with children and squires. It has set most pervasively in Merlant, Steppe Klanova and the Empire. The once order of Dragon Slayers, the Orin'Dar of Yn'vay found inspiration and took the dread beasts name for themselves.

Variations & Mutation

Some say the Dragon never died and took the man's shape but with the skull it is hard to countenance. More speculation comes from the lone survivor but there are many Gods and national heroes that get mentioned, The most popular are The Golden Stag, Sir Percival Rosebush, The Khan of the long night, Elger Trifh, And the Vorshok.

Cultural Reception

Many claim the lone survivor as a hero of their land. Only among the Elgasian is the legend thought as a sickening lie. Others such as far Tylia care little for the slaying of the Wyrm.

In Literature

The knight and the Wyrm is the most widespread but the Skjalls still sing, the pen still writes and the heroism will naught be forgot.

In Art

The cry of the Wyrm is the most famous painting and sits in the Elgasian Hall of Decorum held by the current governor. The Heart's Triumph the famous Ingmennium ballad stands as the most joyful and known of the songs.
