Purpose / Function

It is unknown, what exactly it is for. The Wood Elves think it is a hall of monsters held by the Gods to unleash upon the world when they see fit. The Firbolg see it as a natural stronghold binding away the evils of the world. The Dark Elves see it differently. They believe it is a failed realm that has caught a great deal of monsters.

Alterations

The caves shift it is said to baffle all that attempt to map it. The caves have slowed in their cycles becoming both navigable and mapable.

Architecture

It is clearly not complete natural. It has the hands of intelligent design behind it. It's constant shifting is also seemingly bound magically and is speculated that it is some sort of consistent transmutation magic ritual that moulds things in real time.
