Nasaria

Once the preeminent power in the galaxy, the Nasaria have found the other races of the galaxy growing to match them. Or, as much as they would ever say it in a million years, they might be falling down to everyone else's level. 

Despite their change in status, they still maintain what most would describe as a 'paternalistic' outlook, much to the overwhelming annoyance of what the Nasaria call the 'Young Races'.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Humanoid, bipedal, and bimanual, the Nasaria are quite similar to Humans, in their structure and outward appearance. The differences being found in their possible skin tones and the shape of the ears.

Genetics and Reproduction

The standard gestation period is 12 months.

Growth Rate & Stages

It takes 30 years to for the Nasaria to reach both physical and mental maturity.

Ecology and Habitats

The Nasaria prefer temperate forests with plenty of overhead, their skin being vulnerable to the sun.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Vegetarian, they consume a variety of grains and vegetables. Usually grown on agri-worlds of their own vassal states.

Biological Cycle

As the Nasaria age, their ears continually lengthen. It can actually lead to some issues with older individuals, as their ears can get too long, causing pain and hearing issues.

Social Structure

Nasarian society revolves around the the 'Sages', those that are considered the most learned members of their species. This can be any topic that can be studied, from science to war to everything between and outside. Of course, certain topics warrant more....authority, than others. The authority of a Sage can never be totally ignored, however.

High cheekbones and sharp features give them an almost otherworldly look.

An IQ of 103, though it was higher in the past, reportedly.

Naming Traditions

Nasarian names follow a traditional first and last name structure, but the last name is only granted when the reach adulthood. While families most often maintain the same last name, for clerical reasons if nothing else, individuals are totally free to choose their own name upon coming of age. This can be received in many different ways depending on the family,  from acceptance to total rejection.
