Krisheate
On the frozen ocean world of Relrore, the Krisheate developed a highly ritualistic society embedded in the ice sheets of their home planet.
Where they once swam through the frigid waters under the power of fins and tails, those appendages have evolved to become hands and feet (with minor webbing between phalanges), giving them the necessary prerequisites to manipulate tools and weapons, allowing them to advance to the point of joining galactic society.
As their society developed, from packs of underwater predators to a rudimentary tribal system, they moved up in the world. Literally. From the deep oceans of Relrore to the ice sheets that cover large sections of the planet's aquatic surface. With the surface essentially off-limit due to the high winds and the depths of temperature they create, the Krisheate settled into the ice. carving out cities in the huge pillars that grow down from the bottom of the ice sheets and connected to each other by crafted pathways of ice, spun from magic.
The Krisheate are widely tied to tradition, in a way only matched by the Anulea. Another species from an aquatic world, ironically. They have many holidays throughout the year and rituals for almost any occasion that if left undone can invite anything from bad luck to a spiritual death sentence. In the Krisheate's eyes at least. Whether or not it results in the truly feared outcomes happen, failing to participate in and complete these rituals can cause emotional turbulence. Some individuals will be struck with a sense of melancholy while others have developed a sense of 'something being off'. Others still, though a much smaller section of the Krisheate population, can be driven to extreme levels of anxiety and paranoia. Doing anything they feel is necessary to complete these rituals. Anything from assault, to theft, or even murder.
This can be exacerbated by the fact that the Krisheate go throughout their lives developing new rituals and traditions. A family of hunters will pass down the tradition of building spears from the teeth of a specific animal. While the Grandfather, father, and son will each carve their spearheads in the same ways. They will tie their hafts in unique ways. Any number of differences that in turn differ between individual groups to arrive at an infinite set of combinations.
Unable to live comfortably in warm climates due to the layer of blubber they all have, they have to choose their living spaces wisely or make extensive use of enchantments on their person or attire. Of course, this means Krisheate colonies are often in the most bitterly cold environments, giving them plenty of space from the other species and making them a rare-ish sight in common-space.

Anatomy
Humanoid, they are shorter and stockier than humans, with strong muscle development in the legs and arms.
On their hands, they have three fingers and an opposable thumb, with the bottom two fingers being partially connected by a fin-like structure similar to webbed feet or hands.
Genetics and Reproduction
Baby Krisheate gestate for about six months before being born. The mother can give birth to up to three pups, but usually only one.

It takes the Krisheate 16 years to reach physical and mental maturity.

By necessity, they require a cold climate. One low enough to keep water consistently below or just above freezing.

Totally carnivorous, they prefer fish over other forms of meat.

Their face consists of a small, very small, muzzle like structure rising away from the rest of the face.

Able to use minor changes in water displacement to pinpoint the location of another organism. Of course, if there is a lot of movement in the vicinity it can be difficult to distinguish specific trails.

Most Kricheate will not eat a meal unless they made it or directly contributed to it, either through something like a side dish, another course, or at minimum a main ingredient.

Their skin tones range between grey and brown, with speckles of color across the face, back, top of the arms, and back of the hands. The skin on the stomach, upper torso, and inner thigh are a paler shade of the individual's general skin tone.
