The Black Squadrons

Serve and protect.
— Black squadrons motto
Main strike force of Xiantia Empire, the Black Squadrons are infantry units. Black squadrons are so named because soldiers wear black armor. When a squadron moves, it's like a moving black carpet.

Composition

Manpower

There are 213 squadrons, each consisting of 7,500 soldiers. The first 50 are active and the others are reserve. In the territory of Xiantia, 23 squadrons are assigned to the security of the territory. Each squadron is divided into 15 squads (themselves divided in 5 platoons), led by a squad leader, who respond to the orders of the squadron captain.

Equipment

Squadrons assigned to surveillance do not usually stay on for a long time. Soldiers are raised often and do not need life support equipment. However, they must be able to react in case of emergency, which is why they are equipped with exosuits. The exosuits are exoskeletal armor which in addition to protecting are carriers, increase its capacities. The armor is equipped to be able to help and protect civilians during an attack, with shields for example.

Weaponry

Each soldier is equipped with an energetic rifle blaster, a weapon capable of being lethal and non-lethal. But if the fight comes to hand-to-hand combat, the exosuits are equipped with radiant sword. Soldiers can also carry flash grenades and HE C-5 grenades (High Explosive Charge-5). Being mostly infantry units, the squadrons sometimes need support, and for that they can count on:
  • 200 Tanks;
  • 150 propelled artillery;
  • 132 towed artillery (cannons).

Vehicles

Black squadrons are mostly infantry units, but sometimes they need support and that's why each squadron can count on:
  • 2,500 armored fighting vehicles;
  • 3,000 troop transport vehicles;
  • 200 transport helicopters;
  • And 60 transport unit aircarriers.

Tactics

Black squadrons take advantage of their number in their combat tactics and thus favor remote attacks.   The Wall:   Using their shields, the soldiers form a wall but leave gaps to let soldiers back fire. This training is often used to secure a position or to cut off the road to enemies.   The covered Rush   This tactic is only used to attack fixed positions. Soldiers are stationed at high points for targeted shooting and killing while other soldiers prepare to rush into the enemy position. The soldiers first blind the targets with large flashes and throw themselves into the fray while the soldiers on the cover ensure the back of this on the ground. It is a risky tactic combining speed and synchronization. The shortest rush only lasted 36 seconds.

History

Black squadrons have become famous for their speed and efficiency in the field. Thanks to a reliable equipment and an all-out tactic, they were one of the pillars of the war against Theocracy. Having known no defeat for the moment, they are best known for never having taken more than a day to lead an attack. Originally, the squadrons did not really exist as such. They were called squadrons but were not yet. They officially became it during the formation of the 200th Infantry Unit which then became the 200th Black Squadron.
