Living solely in several Deep Forests, Lance Deer are a deer species that appear similar to normal Red Deer. The only visible difference with Red Deer is that female Lance Deer also have antlers. But their appearances are deceiving, as both hunters and predators have painfully discovered. Old stories claim that Lance Deer can kill at a distance, which supposedly has wiped out entire hunting parties in the past. Recruiters of The Academy have investigated these stories, finally encountering the Lance Deer and observing them without getting too close. Research ended up confirming the stories. Fortunately, the Church believes the stories to be mere superstitions based on drunkard tales. In a fight, a Lance Deer will try to ram enemies with their antlers. It is this movement that lets them use one of their innate Tarot abilities. Resembling Summoned Blades, an invisible attack will extend from their antlers and hit enemies at a large distance. Due to the reach, which in some recorded cases exceeded six metres, the Recruiters have labelled the species Lance Deer rather than Sword Deer. Furthermore, in cases where Lance Deer were injured in fights, either dueling or fending off predators, they appeared to take far less damage than they should have. Their injuries also recovered extremely quickly, in a matter of hours instead of weeks. Lastly, they appear to have very good senses, detecting the Recruiters and remaining wary of them. This suggests that they possess innate abilities of all four Tarot Suits. Because the habitat of Lance Deer consists of extremely dense foliage, hunting them from a distance is considered impossible. As such, and given their abilities, the Academy is not worried anyone will succeed in hunting or weaponizing them. The precise quote was "we pity those foolish enough to try". Observation will only happen every five years, to keep track of any changes in their habitat.
