Holding Hands Spell in The Wild Cards | World Anvil

Holding Hands

One of the most valuable abilities of the Nine Shadows, this ability allows for extremely fast travel. A skill that is nearly unteachable and requires innate talent, making it one of the rarest Tarot Abilities. Holding Hands involves using a sensing link from the wielder to another person, allowing the wielder to step through the link. This ability works best when the wielder and target are personally connected.   Because the ability involves a sensing link, maintained by the wielder without any form of help, it highly depends on Sensing skill. Clarity of the link is extremely important, which is why it is easier to connect to a personal connection. If the other party is aware of the link, they can aid in strengthening it, which greatly increases the distance that can be covered.   There are significant limits to how much, or many, can be brought along. In fact, bringing along is an incorrect term. A person cannot come along, they can only be handed over from one side of the link to the other. The same applies to heavy objects and such, and it can be incredibly taxing to hand them over through the link.   This talent seems to be untrainable, all one can really improve is how exhausting the ability is to use. Distance is practically impossible to train. Due to natural talent playing a massive part in the usability, Holding Hands is often underestimated in how dangerous it is. In extremely rare cases, perhaps one in ten million people, a wielder can cover multiple days or even weeks of travel distance. Researchers have failed to identify a deciding factor involved.
