Stillvault

The city of Stillvault lies to the north of Nylanor and is a significant population hub. It is reportedly the first 'proper' city founded at the start of the Third Era in Faryon that still stands, although it is far from the wealthiest. Like the city and the surrounding lands, its rulers are old - the same duke and duchess have ruled over it for the past four hundred years.
Famously, during Gaelin's War about a hundred years ago, Stillvault sided against the crown of Ludwig Embercrown I, but was never taken despite several (attempted) sieges, one of which was broken when its duke, Morlen Lynes, successfully led the charge out of the city gates that would break the ranks of the force Ludwig I had dispatched to the city.
The people of Stillvault are, to this date, still not fond of Nylanor, the king, and his loyal subjects, considering themselves to have been neglected by the crown in favor for other, more fortunate people with more prestigious occupations than farmers.

Defences

Stillvault is known to be a well-defended city, with thick (if aged) walls rising above the streets and towers providing an overview of the surrounding (rather flat) farmlands. With only two city gates access routes into the city are limited, with the only other way in being the rather humble port - which, like the gates, can be closed off with heavy chains and a metal portcullis.
The city's guard are led by commander Janus Nastannar, a middle-aged man held with some regard.

Industry & Trade

Stillvault's primary source of income comes from its surrounding farmlands. The region is a fertile one and the harvest always yields great results, allowing Stillvault to export its crops and other assorted farmland produce to the rest of Faryon.
