The Fay
"Now let me we tell yah about em fairie folk. Aye the Fay they be called. Yah sees them sometimes flit'en from ere to eir. Doin nature's business so they say. Nicest folk yah could ever meet most of ta time, but vengful... let me tell yah. I once was a tryin to pick this big white flower I'd come cross. Figured make a nice gift from me lady friend yah see. Anies-how I was just star-in to cut it from the stalk when out of nose-were three fairies came a rushin me. Fast buggers those. Well they chased me off with fire I tell yah. Burned a hole in me best pants they did..."The Fay were created as servants to the goddess Geeiná. They were her eyes, ears, and messengers across the lands. After her death, the fay fell into a depression of sorts for a time. But it was not to last. They collectively picked themselves up and took it upon themselves to guard the natural places that remained. The fay associate closely with humans and elves, but can be found in many parts of the world. Although the have a chieftess, they have no kingdom of their own. Instead, they view the entire world, or what remains of it, as their responsibility. The fay can fly and are quite agile. They also exhibit a natural ability with magic. While most fay are honest, good humored, and friendly, some can be tricksters and scoundrels.~Paxton the Huntsmen
Basic Information
Anatomy
Fay appear to be miniature humans. They stand on average 24cm (9.5") and are quite agile. Fay have wings high on their backs. These wings strongly resemble those of many insects, but especially those of butterflies and moths. The color of these wings often will indicate to which element(s) the fey more in tune with. Fey with little or no magical ability typically have clear, or prismatic wings.
Genetics and Reproduction
Upon a Fays death and burial, it grows into the Calax Glabra (The Fay Flower). The Fay Flower blooms every fourth year resulting in the birth of a new Pixie. This cycle will repeat 3 times before the plant fully matures and dies. As such, each Fay, if fertilized as an adult, will give birth to 3 daughters after her death.
As an all female species, the fay are forced to seek relations with other species. While typically paired with humans or elves, in a strange twist of biology, the fay are believed to be compatible with any creature. While necessary to the life bringing process, the male partner in a Fay paring does not contribute to the characteristics or abilities of the offspring in any way.
Growth Rate & Stages
Fey go through two growth stages during their lives, Pixie and Fairie. This transition is similar to female puberty in humans and happens between the second and third year of age; during which the Fey rapidly increases in height, and the body takes on its feminine curves.

Fay are vegetarian, eating greens, roots, flowers, fruits and nuts. They will also indulge in honeys and syrups when they are available.

History
It is said that the fay where creations of Geeiná and that they where shaped from the bulbs of flowers. They where created to be the messengers of the Earth Mother going to and fro across Errota.
When the Earth Mother died and Errota was shattered, the fay despaired. During this time, a Pixie named Lotus person came of age. She rallied the fay pulling them out of their growing depression and gave them purpose again.
"It is the job of the fay to watch over the forests and the fields, the flowers and the fruit trees. The Earth Mother may be gone, but her responsibility falls to us. Little of Errota remains, but we must, in good faith, look after it..."From that point on, the name Lotus became reserved, only to be taken by the Chieftess of the Fay.
