No one knows for sure what happened for the world to be born, however most researchers agree it was a sort of cataclysmic event hazardously dubbed The Shattering. For Aurora itself was already present at the beginning of time, there exists records in ancient ruins that refer to a time before the 3 moons and lands of Aurora. How people could have recorded the beginnings of time let alone lived on a sun-free planet are mysteries that none dare pretend to understand.
Aurelion Sol, The Star Forger; stumbles upon a sunless Aurora and creates a sun for the planet to birth life. He additionnaly offers his favor to the creatures of this world, allowing draconics creatures of all kinds to be born earlier than most. Then, taking inspiration from his favorite materials within Aurora, he shaped the Primordial Dragons, whose offspring would be the first of what would become known as "True Dragons", the Chromatic and Gem Dragons. They would be both his greatest creation within Aurora, and its guardians. Once satisfied with his offspring, he raised the origin peaks from the land to the skies. As one last gift to them, before leaving to create new suns within his cosmic canvas, he covered the solar system within a Veil of cosmic energy, which would hide it from other powerful beings like him and safeguard his creation.
For much of this world's early years, Dragons were the dominant species. As they were born from the favor of Aurelion, the god who birthed the stars, they were intelligent and powerful creatures. Under their supervision, many species grew free of strife and conflict.
Founding of the first grand civilization by the Metallic and Gem Dragons. Under which the first ancestors of Dragonborns and Kobolds thrived proudly.
Tensions within the Council reach a tipping point as dragonborns attempt to assassinate a Greatwyrm. War ensues for a quarter of a century, during which magical cataclysms are as common as raindrops. Innumerable deaths occur during this relatively short but apocalyptic period of turmoil.
While the magics the Dragonborn had developed were mighty, the natural advantages of dragons allowed them to quell the insurgents. The dragonborns and all non True Dragons were banished from the Origin peaks, never to return.
The now isolated chromatic dragons form the Chroma Conclave, an organization whose goal is to overthrow the other dragons and claim the Peaks of Origins, as they believe is their birthright.
After the events of The Breach, many gods, demons and others unnamed entities attempted to invade Aurora through different means.
As more dragons reach the Realm of Primals, the magical potential of Aurora reaches a never before seen peak, sending a ripple throught the fabric of the realms. This not only makes entities outside of the Veiled Realms aware of its existence, but also temporarily weakens the veil separating Aurora from other material realms, allowing some of these entities to cross over into this world.
The first to notice and attempt to exploit the Veiled Realms were those that are often called demons and fiends. Not caring about the repercussions, they managed to pull the entirety of a realm of war with them into the realms, The Fractured Abyss. This allowed them to thrive while claiming unsuspecting beings as new thralls for their unending wars.
Aurora having now prospered for a long time, had attracted the attention of celestials from other worlds. Desiring new land to claim and populate with their followers, they attempted to invade this world using their chosen races to drive off the powerful dragons who inhabited it.
The deaths of countless powerful beings begin to have an impact on the magical essence of the Realms. The Soulforge is born.
For the first time since he blessed the world, The Star Forger came back to his realm after he too felt the ripple in the astral created by Aurora. He quickly noticed that the veil hiding and protecting the realms had weakened, and reinforced it. He then banished the otherworldly gods who had invaded the material plane.
He took pity upon the races brought within by said gods, and let them stay after making them vow to forget their old masters. While the chromatic dragons were a perversion of his proudest creation, he saw potential in them, and allowed them to remain as well.
Though he wished to do the same with the fiends who had invaded even before the gods, the fractured abyss was the creation of another overgod, he knew its traces would remain and would only delay another invasion. As such he instead opted to shunt the war Realm into an isolated portion of the Astral Plane, limiting their direct influence over the Material Plane.
With the slow appearance of more and more intelligent creatures came many changes to the world of Aurora.
Taking a page from other's books, Aurelion decides to create 2 gods of his own to safeguard his world in his extended absence, reinforcing the Veil. First was Nazanke, a being of pure emotion born to guard the magical potential of the realms. Anima came second, guardian of souls and memories. Together they would come to ensure none of the outsiders that may remain within the corners of the realms could take over them and destroy intelligent life.
From the magical potential spread through all the deaths of the great war, new intelligent creatures begin to be born. Often clashing with the already present invaders, many civilizations appear and disappear over the span of countless generations.
This year marks the first from whence history of Dragon Ridge was recorded and not lost to time... as of yet.
