Veilborn Beacon

The Crimson Oracle is said to always carry the Veilborn Beacon. It hangs from the curling hook of her Crimson Birch Tree staff, the wood a striking contrast of bone white with crimson splotches that resemble blood against the pale backdrop. The Veilborn Beacon itself is a lantern crafted from crystal, its panes made of a clear, iridescent stone known as Glimmermore, which can only be found in the heart of Mothalsia. Inside, a fragment of Starlight rests—a piece of primordial magic from when the land was first created. The fragment glistens in the dark, emitting a vaporous glow. It is said that the Beacon can find any lost soul it seeks, and many have found their way to it. For Mothalsia, with all its beauty, is a land that loses many within its shifting woods—those who wander without permission, those who break the laws of the land.

Queen Estrella Duskwither of the Gloamspire Court of Twilight Autumn does not just wander the Twilight Forest and the Shifting Woods, but all the courts. Her role is one that only she can fulfill: to collect the lost souls and return them to Nelous and the Under Sanctuary, so they may find peace. It is said that, in the depths of the woods, one can hear the haunting songs of the dead, woven with the secrets of fate through her words. As the souls come to the Beacon, it softly jostles atop her staff, guiding them toward their final rest. She often travels with a pair of Gloom Wolves, their golden eyes glowing in the dark as they prowl beside her, ever watchful for her safety.

Her haunting songs are said to keep the ancient magic of Mothalsia and its elder creatures at bay—words sung in the language of fey tales. She sings of how Starlight once loved Wildfire, and when Wildfire betrayed Starlight, her wrath began a war that burned and charred the land, leaving pools of magic everywhere. Some of her songs speak of a child who gave her name to escape fate, while others whisper of love—of a Versperite and his endless search for his lost love. Her songs tell of things that have passed, of things that have happened. The souls in the lantern are soothed by her words, drawn into the tranquility of her song as they are guided toward peace.

History

There is no other item in the World of Astrovos like the Veilborn Lantern. It is said that Nelous himself roamed the land of Mothalsia, seeking the rarest and most ancient pieces to create this unparalleled lantern. The creation of the Veilborn Lantern was a careful and deliberate endeavor, crafted by Tulo in the heart of his Great Mountain, with Eirlys watching her husband work with unwavering focus. As Tulo shaped the crystal panes, Eirlys cradled the precious fragment of Starlight in her hands, carefully placing it within the lantern’s shimmering structure. Together, they forged an artifact imbued with both the primordial magic of creation and the delicate essence of the stars, a beacon to guide lost souls across the realms.

She's peaceful wandered and I added some hints to things about stuff she sings about.

Wonderful object. Does the lantern only shine for the souls, or does it also function as a kind of vehicle for the souls to reach the realm of the dead unharmed?
