The Verdant Court of Eternal Spring

House Faelthorne – Keepers of the Verdant Bloom

It is said that the ancestors of House Faelthorne wept the First Tears of Spring, nurturing the land’s first forests and meadows, softening the wild heart of Mothalsia. From these sacred tears, the realm of the Spring Court flourished, an endless stretch of wildflower meadows bathed in golden light. Here, the magic of renewal thrives, and creatures such as Verdant Deer, unicorns, and Silverwing Butterflies roam freely. The flora is abundant and untamed, blooming with the unchecked power of fey magic.

The Faelthorne lineage is as ancient as Mothalsia itself, its members a blend of fey and elven blood. Their features bear the mark of Spring’s essence—olive to green-hued skin and vibrantly colored eyes reflecting the season’s unyielding vibrancy. The current ruler of the Verdant Court is Galius Faelthorne, the Emerald Regent, alongside his wife, Amarylis Faelthorne. Together, they wield the legendary artifacts of their court: the Staff of Spring, said to awaken life from even the most barren soil, and the Harp of Lilies, whose melodies can call forth the bloom of a thousand flowers.

Their court is known for its abundance, revelry, and mischievous joy, where Spring’s magic is a living force. The Faelthorne children—numerous and brimming with the exuberance of youth—dance through the meadows, enjoying the boundless gifts of their season, watched over by the eternal bloom of their ancestors’ legacy.

The Verdant Hunt

When the children of the Spring Court come of age, they are sent into the meadows and woodlands, not to hunt, but to befriend a creature of the wild. The bond they forge determines the knowledge they are entrusted with and the role they will one day serve within the royal court. The rarer or more powerful the creature, the greater the secrets and responsibilities bestowed upon them.

Those who fail to form such a bond are not cast aside but instead guided toward paths beyond the court’s borders. Many find purpose in Crystalmere or Gloomshale, pursuing scholarly, diplomatic, or artisan roles that still enrich the court’s influence. The Verdant Hunt is not merely a trial—it is a lesson in harmony, respect, and the magic that thrives in the embrace of nature.

I love the idea of the Verdant Hunt and that it has an emphasis on bonding with the wild. The Court sounds like a beautiful place.
