The Fey Courts

The Fey Courts of Mothalsia are bound to the turning of the seasons, each ruling during its appointed time and presiding over its own enchanted domain. Their influence is vast yet secretive, as they prefer to remain within their own realms, focused on maintaining the balance of nature and magic. However, in major cities like Crystalmere and Gloomshale, each court appoints representatives to the Council of Elders, ensuring their presence in mortal governance while keeping their deeper motives veiled.

The Court of Spring – The Verdant Bloom

A court of renewal, flourishing growth, and boundless mischief. The Spring Court’s lands are lush with ever-blooming meadows and cascading waterfalls, ruled by a fey sovereign known as the Emerald Regent. Its denizens are playful but capricious, their kindness often laced with trickery. They grant boons of fertility, healing, and rebirth—but always at a cost, for the whimsy of spring is as unpredictable as the storm.

The Court of Summer – The Radiant Expanse

A realm of unyielding light, revelry, and passion, the Summer Court thrives under the rule of the Solstice King. Its lands are golden fields and shimmering coasts, where the fey are bold, prideful, and often warlike. Summer fey embody strength and fervor, celebrating grand festivals yet ever prepared to defend their dominion. They offer mortals vitality and inspiration, but those who cross them may find themselves scorched by their wrath.

The Court of Autumn – The Twilight Glade

A court of wisdom, mystery, and the quiet decay before winter’s embrace. The Autumn Court is ruled by the Crimson Oracle, a fey queen said to weave fate itself. Its lands are gilded forests shrouded in mist, where time seems to slow, and whispers of forgotten knowledge drift through the air. The fey of this court are watchful and enigmatic, often guiding lost souls—though their guidance may not always lead where one intends.

The Court of Winter – The Ebon Hollow

A realm of silence, endurance, and the haunting beauty of frost. The Winter Court, presided over by the Pale Monarch, is a place of stillness and shadowed power. Its lands are icebound tundras and endless snowfields, where only the strongest survive. The winter fey are solemn yet fiercely protective, offering mortals cold wisdom and patience. However, their gifts often come at a heavy price, for winter does not give without taking in return.

Each court remains steadfast in its dominion, rarely interfering with mortal cities unless the balance is threatened. Their rivalries and alliances shift like the changing seasons, ensuring that no single court ever grows too strong—lest the natural order unravel.
