Gorefang Lapin
A sacred oak tree in Mothalisa, guarded by the fearsome Gorefang Lapin—a whole fluffle of them. These rabbit-like creatures are fiercely territorial and viciously protective of the oak. Not even the Fey dare venture into the grove, for the Gorefangs allow no intruders. They attack anyone who is not their sovereign—or, more precisely, anyone who is not Beenlost himself. The rabbits bear the mark of his white paw on their foreheads, a sign of their loyalty to the mischievous god.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Gorefang Lapin possesses four massive limbs, each ending in large paws tipped with razor-sharp claws. Despite their deceptively fluffy exterior, these creatures are known as "murder beasts" due to their lethal nature. They have impressively sharp fangs and an exceptionally acute sense of smell. Their large ears can detect sounds from miles away, making them ever-vigilant guardians. Always alert, they remain fiercely protective of their sacred oak. Despite their fearsome reputation, they possess adorably fluffy tails, a stark contrast to their otherwise deadly appearance.
Genetics and Reproduction
Gorefang Lapins are mammals and reproduce in the same manner as normal lapins. However, due to their massive size, their gestation period is significantly longer, lasting between six to eight months. A single kindle typically consists of one to five Gorefang Lapins. At birth, the young are blind and covered in a fine layer of down, but they grow rapidly, developing their formidable claws and sharp fangs within weeks. Despite their early vulnerability, they are fiercely protected by their parents, who remain highly territorial and vigilant over their sacred oak.
Growth Rate & Stages
Newborn (0-2 months) – The Fragile Stage
- Born blind, deaf, and covered in a fine layer of downy fur.

- Completely dependent on their mother for warmth and nourishment.
- They remain hidden in well-protected burrows near the sacred oak.

- Their fur thickens, becoming the dense, deceptively soft coat they are known for.
- Small fangs and claws start sharpening.

- Their signature fluffy tail fully develops, adding to their deceptive appearance.
- Their hearing and sense of smell reach near-adult levels.
- Begin training under adult Gorefang Lapins, learning to guard the sacred oak.
- Start showing aggression toward unfamiliar creatures.
Adolescence (1.5 - 3 years) – The Fierce Guardians
- Reach a formidable size, though still slightly smaller than full-grown adults.
- Their fangs and claws reach lethal sharpness.
- Highly territorial and will challenge intruders, though they still defer to elder Lapins.
- Strength and endurance continue to develop, preparing them for their role as defenders.
Adulthood (3+ years) – The Murder Beasts
- Fully grown, massive creatures with unmatched speed and power.
- Razor-sharp instincts and heightened senses make them expert hunters and guardians.
- Completely independent but remain highly loyal to their territory and kin.
- Will fight to the death to protect their sacred oak, showing no mercy to intruders.
- Their fluffy tails remain an amusing contrast to their otherwise terrifying presence.
Gorefang Lapins have an extended lifespan, likely reaching 15-20 years if they survive constant territorial battles and the dangers of their world.
Ecology and Habitats
Gorefang Lapin thrives off the magic of Mothalsia , they were born of the wild magic and easily bent to the will of the chaotic god called Beenlost . They live in a scared grove protecting his Golden Acorns .
Dietary Needs and Habits
Gorefang Lapins are omnivorous, consuming a diverse range of Mothalisaian flora and small prey. Their diet includes burple berries, sun licorice, and honeyflowers, which provide essential nutrients and energy. However, they also have a strong predatory instinct, hunting small game such as ferrets, squirrels, voles, and moles.
These creatures are not just opportunistic hunters—they have been observed hunting in coordinated packs, using their heightened senses and razor-sharp claws to overwhelm prey. When working together, they can take down much larger creatures, such as Verdant Deer and Duskmire Toads, demonstrating both intelligence and deadly efficiency in their hunting strategies.
Biological Cycle
Due to the magic of the Mothalisa they are rather unaffected by the seasonal Magic. Which helps them remain Vigilant in protecting the sacred oak.
