Mountain Leopard

A horrible screaming sound rent the night, letting the forward scouting party know that they were not alone in the mountains. It would be days before they caught sight of the beast, a great cat longer than a man is tall. It would be another fortnight before the cat struck.   Kiran Blackwell-Biography of Lord Fenton Caius

Basic Information

Anatomy

The skull of the Mountain Leopard is blunt with two serrated teeth up to four inches long jutting from the upper mandible. Its legs are thick and short, and its pads are wide.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Mountain Leopard feeds primarily on Blackwell goats. They will stalk their prey for up to a week, waiting for the exact right time to strike. A single kill can last up to a month, with the kill being stored in a crevasse high in the mountain to preserve it from decay. The Leopard will also eat any carrion they come across.   During particularly hard winters the Leopards will roam into the valley, preying on bison, livestock, and other carnivores alike.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Mountain Leopards are loners and fiercely territorial, each marking out territories many miles long. The only time they meet peacefully is during mating season, and even then coming across a leopard of the same gender leads to ferocious battles.   Cubs stay with their mothers for a year before striking out on their own. If they come across a sibling or parent after they have reached maturity they will treat each other as they would any other member of their species.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The Mountain Leopard's complete range is unknown, but they have been confirmed to be on all sides of the valley.
