Earth Common Tongue

The Earth Common Tongue is the unified language that has merged aspects of the original colonists. Aspects of English, Russian, Spanish, and Chinese permeate the language. The language has been the standard in both the Core and Rim worlds for quite some time. Though many colonists still learn the common tongue of their ancestors, such as English, it is uncommon and considered barbaric for someone to only speak one of the “old tongues”. The general belief is that the old tongues carry millennia or fighting, nationalism, racial tensions, and xenophobia which humanity has “moved beyond”.
