Igromia

The Halved Planet

Written by littletoes101

Igromia is a decently-sized, tropical-desert planet located in the Lexicon system. About half of the planet is dominated by tropic sea and the islands scattered through it, and the other half is dominated by rolling dunes of sand from arid deserts. There are six moons which orbit around it in a predictable pattern. Of all of the planets within the Lexicon system, it is the only one where there is a single, centralized government for the entire planet. The planet has no seasons, and it takes approximately 2,478 Earth days to complete an orbit. However, because this planet has 50 hour days, it takes 991.194 Igromian days to complete an orbit. Thanks to this, native Igromians tend to live much longer than other species, even within the same solar system.   The main species which evolved in Igromia include two sapient ones who control the world's government and most of its processes: the Itner, which are a quadrupedal draconic species; and the Oros, which are a wolflike species with brilliant manes and feathered tails. There are many religions and many gods contesting ownership of Igromia, but no one can seem to agree on who owns what, when they own it, and where. Even so, conflict on Igromia is mainly solved peacefully, as no one wishes to go to war over something like religion. In fact, there was only ever one war in Igromia's long history. Because of that war, over half of the entire population was killed, and they vowed to never go to war again.   Igromians are highly self-sufficient, and as such, it is difficult for them to accept help. They do not trade much at all between planets, however their interplanetary travel systems are up to date. They simply prefer isolation. They also tend to be well-read and well-studied, although awkward in social situations. They interact the best with members of their own planet; never intentionally rude, they simply do not understand the customs of other places, despite reading and knowing of them.

Geography

As previously mentioned, half of the world is made up of tropical sea and scattered islands, some big and some small. The other half is made up of arid deserts. A large crater in the planet near the middle of it seems to imply a possible extinction event, but this has not been fully investigated as of yet. Many Igromians refuse to go near this crater, as it is rumored to have high radiation which, at best, will leave you disabled, and at worst will kill you. Whether or not the rumors are true, no one knows, as the rumors have kept all from getting too close to it.

How come there are no seasons? Is the axis perfectly straight?

Yeah, that's why there's no seasons! The changes between night and day are drastic, but there's no seasons.
