1st Solent Fusiliers

We Wait for No Man

The 1st Solent Fusiliers, under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel Beverley Fletcher, is the heavy/mechanised infantry regiment of the 1st Solent Corp. Formed at the same time as the 1st Solent Rifles, the regiment was also recruited from the planets of the Solent, including Southampton, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.   Her senior officers, like Colonel Macgregor's Rifles, are mostly disenfranchised officers left over from the breakdown of the Queen's Own Anti-Revolutionary Company in 2980. These include Major Charlotte Cross (2i/C 1st Battalion), Lieutenant-Colonel Cheoung Lao-Tzu (CO 1st Battalion), Lieutenant-Colonel Rohan Khan (CO 3rd Battalion), Major Henry Pienaar (Regiment S-3) and Major Kirk Robertson(Regiment S-4).   The junior officers (OF-2 through to OF-4) are also new recruits from the Solent as one of the differences between Fletcher and Macgregor's regiments is that Fletcher's unit has Lieutenants. Macgregor felt they were unnecessary to the proper running of his regiment, the OR-7s (Colour/Staff Sergeants) being able to fulfil the role of the OF-2s. However, only Macgregor is of this belief, Fletcher is much more conventional in her operational ideas. The usage of Lieutenants was also deemed necessary due to the enlarged nature of the Fusiliers, as compared to the Rifles whose three company battalions are pretty small in the grand scheme of things, the usage of lieutenants ensures the proper application of command and control.   The role of the regiment is to supply the heavy infantry for the Solent Corps. They work closely with the tank regiment and the 2nd Battalion, the Rifles, to move on objectives through heavy resistance, using rapid armoured assaults and heavily armoured flank assaults. They are also incredibly useful in defence, being able to soak up heavy fire with their tougher armour and their organic IFV support.
