Ghosts who either do not have or refuse to reveal their true identity. These ghosts instead adopt another, usually that of fictional characters, that they've observed. What causes a ghost to mask, I'm not sure- perhaps it is to better comfort those they frequently interact with? To fit in where they choose to reside? It is respectful not to push for their true identity, they'll reveal it if and when they're ready... And if they never do? Well, you'll just have to live with that. Masking ghosts do get a better advantage over the average ghost. They do get creative liberties if they decide to mask as an official fictional character from some media or franchise, but in addition to this, they seem to be more powerful on average... Especially if the one they're emulating is versed in magic.
