Ruby Elis Thorn (a.k.a. Red)
One of the 23 teens that somehow survived the disappearance of the residents of their space station. She didn't seem to fit with the rest of the people of the group. Nobody knows why she was in the detention room, she's a good, smart kid, so, what did she do?
She brought an axe to the school.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Short stature with a muscular lower body. She hasn't slept in a few days and everything from her long hair to her looks to be in a mess. She might no be as physically adept as some people but is quite flexible.
Body Features
Short, with a thin waist which makes her average hips look large by comparison. She has muscular legs and lower body, including some wonderful abs from the farm work. She usually stands with a scrunched up posture, she almost never stands up straight and it's odd to people looking at her.
Facial Features
Almond-shaped brown eyes, a large pointed nose, and thin eyebrows frame her face. Her cheeks are unusually flushed as she never takes off her jacket. Her hair falls into her face as it is sloppily tucked behind her ears, her hair is reddish-brown and fluffy, makes her seem bigger than she really is.

She wears a large hoodie, which is bright red, giving her the nickname red. Her hair is super long and messy, making it almost one of a kind in the orbital.

She wears a bright red hoodie at almost all times, she wears skinny jeans and her hoodie covers the middle of her thighs. She wears long black leather boots that she calls blood waders, they are not blood waders, they are combat boots that reach the middle of her caves. On the rare occasion she doesn't wear the jacket, she usually wears a black tank top.

Personal history
Growing up on planet 2-46 She lived with her family on their farm as an only child. Her mother and father were normally working, so her grandmother looked after her more than her parents did. She was quite close to her grandmother, which means that it broke her heart when she died. Ruby was 11 when grandma died, her grandmother lived in an old house in the middle of the woods, and Ruby and her parents also lived in the middle of no-were. Naturally, no-one arrested Ruby when she drove to her grandmother's house to take care of her sick grandma. This lasted for 5 days, her grandma tried to teache her recipes and stuff, but Ruby insisted that her grandmother sit down and relax. ON the eve of the 4th day, her grandma took the turn for the worse and died the next day. Before she died, she gave ruby her husband's axe, which was covered in stickers, wear, and tear. This axe almost became a comfort object for a grieving child. Over her life, Ruby became interested in deep space and astrophysics, and she when into school study it. She saved up enough money out of her grandma's will and her work to afford to go to school in the Kathrine Johnson space station. She brought the axe there as a good-luck item, and she got in huge trouble when it was discovered.

She went to all forms of schooling. Mostly public schools of course, as she is still from a poorish farming family. But, she did extremely well in school and managed to pass with all As and Bs. In the Kathrine Johnson Space center, she is going into Astrophysics and some engineering. She gets all As and Bs in this class too! But she isn't very liked by her teachers.
Employment
She has worked many jobs around her town, needing to make money for herself and her family. She's worked as a farmhand, a retail worker, and a park keeper. She's worked almost all her life, ethier on her parent's farm or in other situations.
Accomplishments & Achievements
She managed to work enough jobs and get the right scholarships to pay her way to the school, she had to work many hours a day and didn't have much Freetime as a result. She is also very aware that many of the other kids in the school didn't work as hard as she did.
She gets great grades and has managed to balance school and personal life well enough. She does a lot of exercise during her personal time to keep the muscle mass she built up over the years.

She never really got any friends due to her constant working, so she manages to fail any social interaction that isn't public speaking. So she constantly embarrasses herself when interacting with other people. So, she stutters, she's blunt, and most importantly, she's a little rude.
Mental Trauma
Not making any friends can have an effect on how you view the world and yourself. To Ruby, it's the world Vs her. She doesn't think anyone likes her so she sets up walls and acts standoffish. She's not adapted to social interactions and fails to work them correctly, interrupting people and going into random tangents. She beats herself up for this, and she just seems more and more mean to others.
She's a very lonely person.
Intellectual Characteristics
She's smart, good at critical thinking, and can memorize factoids easily. She can come off as ditzy and unobservant, but that is mostly because she is thinking hard about something.

She believes in loyalty, honesty, kindness, and many other things, but she never really shows it. She believes in great honesty but doesn't mind telling tiny white lies. She's brutally honest to people, and will willingly criticize people.
She is often just in it for herself making her beliefs in loyalty a little strange.

She wants to get a good education, and she'll do almost anything to get that education. She doesn't really know what she'll do after the education, but she assumes something scientific.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
She is great at math, whether it be algebra, scientific notation, biology or chemistry equations, or even calculus. She isn't very good at geometry though.
She can bake, but cooking is a little hard for her, mostly it's the meats.
No matter what she claims she is not very adept at organization, maybe she doesn't even understand how it works. Her notes for the mystery, for instance, are awfully organized and no-one except her can understand it.
She cannot easily do some active things as she lacks some stamina.

- Her favorite food is pizza, burgers, grilled cheese, and pasta, almost all filling food. She does like sweet foods, but she cannot eat too much of it. She doesn't like bitter or sour candies.

- She likes video games, but she dislikes those that are overly violent or that she thinks they don't have any substance.
- She doesn't like people who just slack off during class, she hates when people don't take advantage of their situation.

She is smart and intuitive, thinks quickly and smartly. She is a good listener and confidant and can give really good advice. When she gets to know someone she gets really protective of and will stand by them. The easiest friend to keep will always be Ruby because at that point she will trust you more than anything.

She is a little stuck up, unable to connect with other people. Often presumptuous she doesn't really understand the other kids in her school. She's just angry all the time, at herself or other people. Her self-hatred leaks into a lot of thinks.

A stuttery low voice, she says the word "Uh..." a lot. She doesn't seem to be able to get a non-stuttery sentence out of her mouth.

Ruby just assumed Alex was someone whose parents paid their way and didn't deserve to be there. Alex does in fact deserve to be there, Ruby just doesn't notice it and judges him, she doesn't hide her dislike, and seems bothered by the fact he doesn't care. Her assumptions are wrong, and she will need to learn from them. Alex thinks Ruby is cool. He thinks her hard working and critical thinking skills are cool, and he looks up to her a bit. He knows she doesn't like him, but he thinks she can learn to like him (he's right) and treats her well anyway. He also really wants to work on an aerospace engineering project with her, mainly because he thinks it would be fun to get to know how she work. Alex's amazement with Ruby can seem a little bit creepy.

Ruby and Ryland met when Ryland referred too her as a Witch and Ruby got imminently offended. This started a rivalry of sorts as they desperately tried to one-up each other. They hate each other's guts but would be devastated if the other stopped. They both enjoy the rivalry, and it both succeeded. The worst decioson a teacher made is to put them in a group together.
