Nyelari

The Woven Star

Nyelari is the goddess of dreams, stars, fortune, and song. She is a patron of travelers and a muse to poets, guiding the curious, the lost, and the bold across the winding roads of the world. Born from the first mortal to gaze upon the starry night sky with wonder. Her voice is said to be the first melody ever heard, the echo of the night sky made song. Worshippers invoke her name not through ritual, but through movement, music, and the quiet awe of looking up at the stars. Among all the gods, she is the most unchanged, still wandering, still singing, and still delighting in the infinite wonder of the world.

Appearance

Nyelari is often depicted as a woman cloaked in starlight, her hair trailing constellations and her eyes filled with distant galaxies. In some myths she has wings spun of comet tails and moon-silver, and in others, she dances barefoot across the firmament, leaving trails of dreams in her wake. She is known to appear in many forms. A traveling bard, a curious child, a streaking star. Always moving, always listening, always smiling like someone who knows the next line of the song.

Dogma

She teaches that life is a journey meant to be wandered, not conquered. She encourages curiosity, creation, and the pursuit of wonder, even if the destination remains unknown. Dreams are glimpses of truth, and luck is a gift that flows freely to those who trust in the rhythm of the world. Her faith holds that every star is a story, and every dream a thread in a tapestry still being woven. She warns against stagnation and control, viewing them as chains upon the soul. To follow Nyelari is to let go of certainty and embrace the song between the stars.

Worship

Nyelari’s worship is spontaneous, joyful, and rarely bound to temples. Her followers, often wanderers, musicians, seers, and stargazers, offer her prayers as songs sung by the firelight, stories shared on the roadside, and dreams recorded in journals before dawn. Shrines to her are simple: wind-chimes hung in trees, stones stacked like constellations, or star-maps painted beneath bridges.   Her holy text is The Luminous Thread, a drifting compilation of poems, visions, and dreams believed to have been shared directly by Nyelari in sleep. No two copies are alike, and each is said to contain a page that vanishes when read, meant only for that reader. Her sacred holiday, The Night of Falling Fire, is celebrated during the peak of the great starfall. Followers gather in open fields to sing, dream, and watch the stars dance, offering whispered wishes on every streak of light. Nyelaris followers also celebrate the Shallowtail Festival on the last day of the first month.

Relations

Nyelari is well loved among the gods, even if few understand her. She walks beside Velmira in moments of inspiration, dances through Orun’s silence, and weaves dreams with Lethara that guide the dead gently home. She avoids gods of tyranny and stagnation, who see dreams as weakness and freedom as chaos. They then release cages full of swallowtail butterflies, to guide the faithful during the year.
