Byron Hugues Longe is the Grand Mayor of
Terre-de-Mer, elected in 3700 AM with massive popular support. His mesmerising personality and vocal support of the 'common people,' (which in Frankonia refers to everyone but the merchant class) as well as his position as both outsider and native, are defining aspects of his tenure and character. Despite his popularity, he remains a divisive figure: his opponents accuse him of executive overreach and suppression of political dissent.
There is a widespread belief that Mayor Longe intends to challenge the oligarchic rotation of the office of the Prince-Mayor by running as an independent candidate next term.
Background
Byron was born to a Frankonian mother and Aeryonian father in Nova Aera, and was thus granted Republican citizenship at birth in accordance with the Frankonian Constitution due to having at least one parent who possessed citizenship. Like many in the Unbounded City he made a living as an adventurer, a time during which he became known as 'the Black Dove' due to repeatedly resolving jobs peacefully. His intense force of personality eventually led to him ending up in the city guard as a captain. He had a crisis of faith after witnessing the lone Hero drive off the invaders during the famous Siege of the City, and left the city guard soon thereafter, with a newfound belief in selfless heroism.
When he went to Frankonia, the home he had never visited, there were evils abound to remove. Using his wits and experience to garner support, he was elected Grand Mayor of Terre-de-Mer with a simple majority, as the first person in a century to do so.
