Tamblin
The diminutive racoon-folk of the continent of Hr'ask'r, the tamblin are known across Kirris for being personable, if occasionally annoying. They are frequently underestimated, even though they are just as capable of heroism as their larger kin.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
The tamblin tend to be small, standing close to waist height on an average sized humanoid. They are typically built very slim, showing a great deal of grace, but they make up for this by being relatively flimsy when compared to other races.
They are covered in soft fur and have short, pointed snouts. A bushy tail hangs below their backs. Their fur is normally mostly grey or brown, although red is not unheard of. Their coats have patches of darker or lighter fur, particularly ringed tails or mask-like patches around the eyes.
Civilization and Culture
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Most of the tamblin culture is based on the spoken word. They believe that language is a gift of the Great Divine. Because of this, they make the most of it, always talking if they can. Many people find this tendency annoying, but most tamblin take this in stride.
Due to their cultural proclivity towards speech, they are well known for having a rich tradition in storytelling, poetry, and music. Indeed, they are known for being some of the best entertainers on Kirris. Many tamblin take pride in the fact that their songs and stories provide joy to so many.
Aside from these traits, they often adapt to the culture of those that they live among. For example, the tamblin in Labyrinthia have just as much respect for their elders as any minotaur. Indeed, the tamblin of that city have their own elder. Rarely, the elder of the city has even been a tamblin.
History
The history of the racoon-folk is very humble and not very elaborate. It is believed that they were one of the original races inhabiting Hr'ask'r, and they lived as primitive tribes almost everywhere south of the mountains of Dolrar.
This remained unchanged all the way until the Second Rising. As many others did, several tribes took shelter in Hnng'yar. Even when the fighting had ended, they remained and adapted to their new urban environment. They became educated, and then were considered valued citizens.
They started spreading across the continent once again, proving themselves more than adaptable. They were not builders, however, so they instead chose to live in communities built by others. Oftentimes, they even form communities within communities, these frequently being places of joy and music.
No tamblin have risen as great heroes or built mighty empires, but they have remained as fixtures in cities across Hr'ask'r. Their presence often makes these places just a little more interesting.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Generally speaking, tamblin are peaceful creatures. As a society, they don't engage in wars or large-scale violence. This, of course does not mean that individuals or small groups don't engage in violence, but even then such acts are rarely racially motivated.
Tamblin culture is very individualistic, and as such they view other peoples as individuals. The tamblin ideal mostly celebrates their fellow beings based on their own merits while trying to be forgiving of their flaws. Many are even willing to extend this same courtesy to the yuan-ti, but the actions of the Yuan-ti Empire makes this difficult even for the tamblin.
