Selkie Brute
Resembling massive, bipedal leopard seals in their native form, selkies are extremely talented shapeshifters who slip into and out of humanoid guises and personas like a Taldane lady changes outfits. Lone selkies are some of the most feared ambush predators in the northern seas, often mimicking a drowning person to lure in unsuspecting sailors to eat.

Selkie Skins
Many stories talk about selkies shedding their seal skins when they take a humanoid form, and feature a hero stealing the skin to lock a selkie in such a shape to either slay them or marry them, depending on the story's tone. There has proven to be no truth to these tales, though this has not stopped enterprising hunters from selling "genuine selkie skins" to the gullible, or from practitioners of transformative magic from attempting to create functioning selkie skins from scratch.
